Well, if you're an MMA fan then you know what I mean. Man that was one vicious KO...I thought Mirko shredded his knee and ankle from the way he dropped. Herb Dean had to twist his ankle back around from under his back before he tried to revive him. Watching it in slo-mo, you could see that Mirko thought the kick was coming to his midsection and lowered his arm so his elbow would protect his liver...and Wham...straight to the dome.

Yeah, devastating blow definitely. I'm a huge UFC fan (have been for 14 years), but I'm also a Pride fan. Everybody is always saying how the UFC has no REAL talent, and that Pride could dominate any of them. Now maybe that will put the Pride FanBoys in their place. I really like Crocop, and I thought he was going to dominate, but WOW, what a vicious KO. I'm glad Crocop seemed okay, I really thought he would have been more hurt, not only from the blow, but from his leg buckling also. Great fight.

I made some money on that fight :)

always follow Randy Couture...he pick EVERY fight last night, some of them in how it would end....

it was pretty ugly...

Gonzaga was a BEAST! I am anxious to see how well the UFC fighters handle the Pride guys. Didn't Dana White buy Pride recently?

no Dana didnt buy pride, the 2 brothers who own 90% of the UFC bought pride. Dana just helps with fight match ups and marketing.

As far as how UFC guys will handle pride...they are still seperate, they will only really fight in large matches. then it will depend on the rules, Pride, no elbows etc etc....

FWIW so far UFC guys have pretty much walked on the pride fighters... look at diaz VS gomi...look at heath herring, he was a stud in pride and hasnt done shit here, yet....Frank Trigg.... loses in the UFC and goes to pride and walk on most everyone, quickly.

there are many more examples but this debate has gone on forever... thats partly what drives the sport.

I woke my wife up when I screamed "Oh fuck"... she thought the house was coming down.

I really thought crocop was hurt bad... it took a long time for him to get up.

What do you think of the other fights? Conspiracy alert: i thought Sinosic had Bisping on the ropes and kind of pulled back when he could have finished him after that knee... weak, and I like bisping alot, but i thought sinosic may have had a chance to win.

also, does arlovski look timid and afraid to get hit? apologies at the end don't excuse his actions... i thought he calls himself the pitbull... more like poodle!

anyway, if gonzaga comes out like that against randy, R.I.P.

yeah i think elvis was just so surprised that he got him with that knee...just that action takes hid momentum AWAy from the fight, so by the time he chased him down to the ground...bisping had recovered...that fight went how i thought it would go for sure...

I agree, AA (pitbull) looks like he is trying to be a "smarter fighter" and not just rush in. It has taken some of the excitment away from watching him for sure. I think he though, (like everyone else did) that he was unstopable...with the 2 beatdowns he took....i think he is still trying to work them out in his head.

yeah i dunno, randy is a smart guy, and has said more than once, Crocop would be an easier fight for him than Zaga...who knows. I will be betting on randy as im sure the line will be better :)

man you should drive all the way into chandler next fight...we normally have a packed house for all the MMA fights...:)

Keep me in mind for the next one Marc. Sounds like a good time...

Hey do you ever train? I just started going to Indomitable Spirit Martial Arts on Germann and Alma School... only 2 classes so far so I've been getting my ass handed to me bad!!!!

I think Randy v Gonzaga will be a good match, and will end up on the ground where Randy's Grecco will come up against Gabe's Jiu-Jitsu.
Bob, I agree re: the talent level of UFC vs Pride. I've also been a fan since '93 (when it was NHB not MMA  ). When Pride began I was actually much heavier into boxing, but i've seen/own ~ 80% of the Pride events now and have always thought DSE put on a fantastic show. I won't lie...I also felt the general talent pool in Pride was better than UFC's (especially the heavyweights), but recent events have worked to dispell that notion to some degree. Regardless, I think we all know what Fedor would do to Randy. 01blacks4...I wouldn't say Trigg walked on everyone in Pride. He TKO'd Fabiano Iha over 7 years ago, and beat Kazuo Misaki in Feb, that's it. You might be thinking of Icon Sport, where he took the belt from Mayhem last Dec, only to get KO'd by Robbie Lawler 3 weeks ago (Robbie thought Frank was disrespectful before the fight and took it upon himself to blast Trigg in his unconcious face before the ref stopped it). He's fought in a bunch of orgs but it's been a rollercoaster ride for him. I'm a fan of Nick Diaz but was shocked to see him tool Gomi, and I demand a rematch, especially since they robbed Diaz and reversed the decision because dude likes to blaze  . Arlovski looks gun-shy now, no doubt. What a shame, he's a heavyweight that moves like a middleweight. orbusrex...those first few classes are rough, eh? I prefer staying home, and submitting my buddies when they stop by for a visit  .

Man that was a vicious K.O. I too was under the impression that pride had way more talent than UFC just b/c of what my friends said (they are more into it than me). It was a main event that really delivered versus some of the other hyped up fights in the recent past.

Pride did have better talent, no question. The problem was the UFC NH's who didn't know any better were ignorantly posting on Sherdog about how great the UFC is and never saw a Pride event in their life.

On any given day in MMA an opponent at least has a puncher's chance. Crocop has had numerous losses by knockout if you know about his history. FYI you do not see complete fight histories on Sherdog either. He is a great fighter overall but like St. Pierre can be knocked out, so can he. Fedor as great as he is was nearly knocked out in a Pride event by a journeyman. What makes a great fighter is not one fight but his career. What Crocop did in the Pride tourney to Vandy and Barnett is legendary now.

Trigg hasn't walked on anyone in Pride. Nick was high as kite when he beat Gomi, I can see the argument both ways whether or not this could have helped him. I'm very disappointed in Nick though. When Dana sent poster boy Chuck to Pride, he got hurt by Overeem and then being walked on is what happened to him when he fought Rampage. Watch the real event and not what they show on Fox. I forgot who the other UFC fighter was but he got beat first round. Then don't forget about the Gracie's getting destroyed by Sakuraba. Newton who beat Matt Hughes has had nothing but problems in Pride. These arguments never get anywhere but most of the real fight fans who watch every event, not just the Pride and UFC events, usually will favor Pride for the talent. It's pointless now.

Mirko is dangerous and probably in the twilight of his career now as is Vandy. Chuck should beat Quinton as he hasn't been the same since his religious awakening.

New info. Miraculously, Mirko apparently does not have any knee/foot/ankle damage from the fall. Not sure how that can be, that foot was wound back like a propeller. Also, I am not a Dana White fan but I was rolling when I read something he said in an interview this AM, regarding Crocop's plans for the future. Here's the segment...
'No idea. I don't even know what he wants to do next. I'll have to talk to his people, see what he's thinking, see where his head is, no pun intended.'
Malibu, I can see having many good debates w/ you on MMA. Crocop doesn't really have numerous KO losses though. Hoost KO'd him in K-1 (twice?), and Randleman KO'd him in Pride (he wasn't out from the punch, he dropped and Kevin put him out w/ hammerfists on the ground), but that was it up until Saturday. As for Fedor, i'm guessing you mean the Fujita fight? Yeah, he was definitely doing the fish dance, it was more impressive IMO to see him get hurt like that, not go down, recover and win the match. I hear he spins around and around in training so he can deal with the dizziness if he's hurt. I agree it's a fighter's entire career that matters, and what Crocop did to Wanderlei (not to mention Vovchanchyn and Fedor's brother) will go down in MMA history. I don't believe Diaz was high for the Gomi bout. Have you tried fighting when you're blazed? The reflexes are not exactly at their best, but judging from the levels in his blood he definitely likes to smoke. Either way, second best submission I have ever seen, awesome Gogoplata. Everyone seems to be picking Chuck over Page for the rematch.

Turbolexus, Mirko's been knocked out several times in other events. I've seen and have a few videos on my HD of non-Pride/UFC events where he was knocked out cold. People say he has no chin but he just gets caught sometimes. You can find his McDonald K1 fight pretty easily on the web. I'll try to find some of the other KOs tonight.

Yeah I was referring to the Fujita fight when babyface got caught real good. It was a miraculous recovery and that's why Fedor's probably the best at any weight class let alone Heavyweight.

The thing with Nick's high is that he could have been numb to the pain. Gomi caught him with some really good shots and when was the last time you saw Gomi tired like that? He hit Nick so hard and often that he probably thought he had him and went for the kill too early, too hard, too fast. You see good MMA fighters and boxers fall into that trap all the time. The real question is if you know that the marijuana is going to inhibit you, why would you smoke so much right before you are going to fight one of the best P4P fighters? It doesn't make sense, Nick knows better. Why not come in piss drunk instead?
