I spoke with a representative from Camp Good Days...the camp for less-fortunate children and she is PSYCHED about us doing this track thing I mentioned earlier!!! She thought I was one of the guys from Watkins Glen, NY. She said that is the HIGHLIGHT of the year for the children and really wants to do it down here!!!

SO, that being said, I NEED VOLUNTEERS so I can approach her with at least 5 or 6 cars to do this in!!!! ANY volunteers with NSXs, Ferraris, Porsches, anything, PLEASE Private me or Call my cell at 954 868 3744 so we can set this up!! I'm going to need some help with this!!!

Thanks guys!!!!!

I was one of the drivers at Watkins Glen and would highly recommend that people volunteer their time and car for this worthy effort. We hosted Camp Good Days NY campers and I would encourage anyone in the area to come out in force and put some smiles on the kids' faces.

Good luck with the event Brian!

Bob

p.s. we also had a hot dog luncheon for the kids so you might want to consider arranging for a pizza party or something similar to follow the track time

Brain, what track were you planning on using and on what date?

Armando

Armando, I planned on talking with you tonight about it at Bahama Breeze...but I just spoke with Lyle and he said Bradenton has a road-course and he may also be able to get some outlaw bikes out there to showcase...

I'm going to try and talk to some local places to us and bradenton and find out if anyone would be interested in sponsorship.

So far, the roll call is as follows:
1. Me
2. Lyle
3. Armando (I'm sure you'll be there, right big guy? ;))

RSO34, how many cars do you recommend since you've had experience with this? Could you fill us in as to how the process went up there as far as track rental, sponsors, time, and all that?

We had a little different scenario because the main sponsor was Trackmasters who was putting on a HPDE school at the Glen during that week. The track cost was covered by the tuition paid by the students and there was an additional charge of $60 per driver to take the kids out with the proceeds being donated to the camp.

Because there was a school going on at the track, we probably had at least 150 cars of which 10 were NSX's. We did a 45 minute touring session first with drivers (including non-students) to do laps around the track and then a 1 hour session with the campers.

I would recommend that you contact whatever local groups generally conduct track days and get them to agree to build in the lunch hour for this event. You might want to look into the local BMW club or whatever entities down there who do HPDE. That way the track time is paid for, you have built in extra cars/drivers, you take advantage of their insurance for the event and you can get a larger turnout and raise more money.

Bob

p.s. I just checked the Sunshine Bimmers site and they have dates scheduled at Sebring in September and then plan to do touring laps at lunch to raise money for the Red Cross. You might want to start with them and see if they can squeeze in your event.

Brian - I would love to be a part of this! I can bring the NSX and the Viper (99GTS) if that would help the turnout. My only concern is if it is sort of close to home, ie Bradenton or Sebring would be great. Probably could not do an event in S Fl.
I have never tracked either car so I need to know if that is a problem - I'm guessing if kids are riding it is kept very safe.
PM me if you want me in.

Just let me know where/when and I'll sure try to make it!
This I'm sure is a dream for the kids. It would be a privilege to to do this for the less fortunate kids.

Count me in. I suggest the Chinmotorsports event at Sebring on October 11th. There will be plenty of instructors willing to give rides. Everybody send Wei-Shen an email getting him on-board for the track time needed.

Bob.
