Happy Cinco de Mayo

It's funny how the general population thinks it's Mexico's Independence Day, even by some Mexican Americans! lol

What's even more ironic, is that it's really an American holiday, as 5 de Mayo is not really celebrated in Mexico, save Puebla. The US embraced the holiday as the outcome of that battle likely prevented a different outcome not only in Mexico, but here in the US as well, as we were in the middle of a civil war. Some historians believe Napoleon III was planning on invading us via Mexico and thus helping out the confederate states.

Anyways, happy Cinco de Mayo! Drink responsibly! :)

I just heard that on NPR the other day. Pretty much an invented holiday, though I'm surprised it wasn't the marketing division of beer companies and mexican restaurants that came up with this one :)
