I picked up a copy of HCI(hot compact& imports) magazine because of the article on the 516hp nsx. The article is about a kit that HP Performance in Rosewell NM, sells setup to run at 7psi of boost. Very easy to understand article with a few pics and step by step install. I'll try to scan it and post when i get home. Anyone seen or heard of the car or its owner? They claim at 8.8 psi and an electronic wastegate controller they achieved 455hp with 333lb-ft or torque. Impressive on stock internals. Real easy article to understand for baby steppers like me:smile: They make this kit seem easy and inexpensive to install, while being safe on the motor.

I guess I'm going to the book store today. Thanks for the heads up. I don't see the NSX T-kit anywhere on their webpage though.

I found it here.

Does anybody see this piece anywhere? "Custom built air to water intercooler includes pump and reservoir "

Wow, that is one ugly website..

Ditto on the trip to the bookstore. I emailed them about a price for the kit and pics of the intercooler as well. Most importantly, I asked that perhaps we can get a group buy going for prime members.

there may be a group buy on a different turbo kit soon......this kits looks pretty cool though, interesting turbo placement....

Website looks shitty but we might have something here, buts its too early too tell. Who's willing to use their car as a donor though:rolleyes:

HP makes some great turbo kits for the domestics and are very well known in that arena. The NSX kit may have been a Richard Holdner design. Its surprising to see the lack of low end on that single.

15lbs of boost on a stock motor won't last long...

Is this a new kit or has it been around for a while? I have never heard of them.

At 8psi, the results HP seems very close to what the Bell Kit put down.

01blacks4; what group buy on another turbo kit:biggrin:?Have'nt heard anything about this?

Anyone notice no prices:frown:  ...and what engine management did they run? or did they?

i got it

Smaaaall pictures and hard to read, but thanks, interesting :)

Wonder what the reliability is like

So I head out to Borders in the rain tonight as that is my fav' place to purchase my Euro' motorcycle and car mags. (I think we can all agree that the american mags' are utter crap) anywho, no HCI. I then head to a local longs rx store .....Yep, no HCI. Lastly I stop by my local Safeway ......You quessed it. Nadda. The one time I am willing to pay to much for a wafer thin, crappy paper stock american mag' and it's no where to be found.
Bollox!

i jus' went to wal mart and read the entire article hehe:biggrin: ... im such a cheap scate:wink:  lol

the rest of the magazine didnt look like it was even worth my time:rolleyes:

It doesn't look like they would have to worry about having a pump to return the oil from the turbo to the engine. It also appears to have a short intake track before and after the turbo. Do they pull air from the side of the car like stock? I wonder how much heat the turbo adds to the engine bay by having it there.

Well i got an email back from them today nad a little more expensive than i had hoped. here is what i got back from them.

"Thank you for contacting Turbo Synergistics LLC. Yes this is the same kit from HCI mag and the same kit from HP performance. Before releasing the kit we are waiting on the completion of one more install. Once that is completed the release should be relatively shortly there after. The base stage I kit with the 57mm turbo will list out at 8495. The stage II running 650 more. I'll be doing an introductory offer for the stage II system with the 67mm turbo for 8295"

Seems like a good kit but not gonna fit alot of guys expectations of an affordable setup.

hey guys @ $8300 WITH the AEM and a pretty nice air to water it doesn’t look that bad for pricing, I would say even a deal. You also have to remember that this kit comes with the headers like the turbo placement for the lack of drain issues but I am impressed they got it up there. I saw this about 8-9 months ago so I started trying to see if my turbo would fit there.... NO WAY !! :) didn’t even come close.

BTCOG82 as far as the "other group buy” I think it is something like the following

Turbo (t62?)
Y-pipe (from your headers to turbo, yes you can use early stock headers)
Muffler and related exhaust plumbing and tips
Tial wastegate
Tial blow off valve
Air to water intercooler with fan cooled radiator
Oil reservoir with oil return pump
For fuel management it will be using the same setup as a CTSC with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and a MAF clamp. You will be able to upgrade to an AEM on your own if desired.
I am not sure but this kit should be able to be had for about $6K and should
be able to be bolted on in a weekend. The most difficult part will be drain bung in the oil pan.

I still think this is a cool setup but do agree that the site is kinda lacking. BUT, it is better than all the other nsx turbo sites we have seen :)

I would expect to spend at least 12k on any setup. This kit looks promising, without a motor rebuild.

why would you expect that? because up to this point everyone charged a ton? no rebuild, no big fueling costs (braided lines, aeroquip fittings, injectors pumps etc, etc. ) heck on a GJ that stuff alone is 2-3K take that away, be happy with about 400hp and you are right in these projected price ranges. with an air to water which is WAY more $$ then a air to air.

This turbo kit looks to be very well made, all the pipings are nicely done. Some of the other turbo kits for NSX looks embarrassingly ugly. This one is actually decent looking.

The additional underhood heat can be greatly reduced or virtually eliminated with a $150 turbo blanket.
