Header question

I have been told that using the 97+ stock headers on a 91 will give me roughly the same performance gains as a set of comptech headers. The difference being a few horsepower between the 2 setups.

Can anyone verify this?

The 97+ header is far superior to the stock NA1 manifold... but I would not say its the same gain as a Comptech header... its probably fairly close and a vast improvement, but not the same. However... you can get a used NA2 header for $200-$300, whereas most headers will run you $1000+.

Getting it to fit is another matter, although it will bolt up to the engine, the piping on the NA1 cats and exhuast is different.

Maybe there is an adaptor, I don't know...

I do have my 2005 headers and cats for sale if you are interested PM me.

Yes they bolt up to the block and are a much better design than the stock '91 castings but you will need to have a header to cat adaptor made. I think it's 2 to 3 bolt pattern too.

Does anyone have any hard info on the difference between gains of the 97+ versus comptech?

If we are talking just a few horsepower and no other significant gains then the cost difference runs in favor of the 97+ for me.
