not sure if this is right thread, but i know this is general and for the nsx

anyways im having trobule installing my comptech harness bar..

im trying to still use my stock seat because it is so comfy

the "ring" bolts that screw into the seat belt clip and the bottom seat belt anchor will screw in, but wont swit flush into the floor.. i will try to post pics

i was thinking of bending the "ring" bolt up so it will sit flush, but not sure of that...

also i have a problem sliding the should harness through the OEM seat.. im afraid it will rip the leather..
thanks

This thread should really be moved to the Technical/DIY forum.

I recently installed a comptech harness bar. You need to remove the bolts that secure the different pieces of the harness bar together, when bolting it to the car. Also remove the seats fully from the car first. If you still can't get it to fit, try reversing the 2 halves (move driver's side bar piece to passenger side, etc).

The shoulder straps fit great between the headrest and the seat back, just slide them under from the sides, no need to thread it from the back.

Also, the routing of the crotch belt on the Simpson harnesses worked best for me by cutting 2 slits in the leather of the seat back, down near the seat back hinge point, and then thread them thru to the gap between the seat back and seat bottom. This allows you to not cut the seat bottom to bring it up that way, and also lets you stuff it back in there to completely hide all parts of the harnesses when they are not being used.

ok here we go

1. this is what it looks like inside the car unbolted, which was a pain in the butt to get in

2. this was really pain in the butt to bolt in..

3. See the "ring/eye" bolt hitting the door seal, which i can't make the seat sit flush on the ground

4. close up, this is on the other side where the belt clip goes

5. same as pic 3, but on the drivers side

i have choice A, make a bracket, or choice B ask a friend who has the same set up which im probably going to do but can't get in contact with yet

help please lol
thanks

7. this is my 2nd problem, i have both of the lap harnesses clipped on to the "eye" bolt as you can see, i need to find where i can clip my shoulder harnesses because this comptech harness bar was made for those wrap around shoulder harnesses

8. this is where i need to mount/attach the shoulder harnesses. someone suggested that i not drill a holl in the bar and slide the eye bolt in there with a nut and washer cause it ruins the whole structure of the bar. im debating on taking this to a shop and having them build a custom bracket to hold the eye bolt in

9. this is a close up of the lap harness clipped into the eye bolt

10. so now im just wondering what i should do, all your opinions are welcomed, and no i do not want to go with another racing harness, i love the takata harnesses way too much lol

thanks

Firstly, don't ever think of hooking the harness bar to the lower eyebolt. You will risk a spinal cord injury if you ever get in an accident. That is just not how you mount harness.

Secondly, if you like Takata so much, get the right one. They offer the wrap around one too for proper installation in your application.

Keep in mind when installing this harnesses, that proper installation is everything. BAd installation only increases your chance of injury, in some cases worse than not wearing them at all.

IMHO the most comfortable belt to wear is Scroth harness.

huh, i dont get it, i hooked the harness bar to the chassis where the rear 2 bolt go to mount the oem seat in the back

I agree with Andrie get the proper shoulder harness system that allows you to wrap it around those cross braces,I would'nt drill eye bolts into it.And please don't post the same problem in multiple forums.

NSXchnk,

What I meant is the shoulder harness should not be bolted to the lower eye bolt. The lap belt is fine.
