Hi,

As I was going through the FAQ section, I realized that I didn't understand a lot of the terms. If anyone coule explain me the following things, I will appreciate it.

1. What is Throttle-by-wire? 95+ NSXs have Throttle-by-wire. What is the advantage of this? What type of throttle system did the previous NSXs have?

2. What is double clutch? 97+ NSXs have single clutch and I was informed that it was changed to single unit in order to reduce the clutch replacement cost.

Thank you so much!

Throttle by wire is otherwise known as E-throttle. There is no physical cable between the Pedal and the throttle itself. It is controlled via some sort of electronic motor that opens and closes the throttle.
The Older NSX's had a more conventional throttle controlled by a cable attached to the pedal.

All MT 3.0L NSX's have a Dual Disc Clutch. They did this initially to reduce Moment of intertia in the driveline. They later switched to the single plate clutch which in my opinion is a shade more reliable and easier to fix.

I'm inclined to believe that the change was largely to placate those people who found the dual-disk more difficult to use smoothly. Of course, that would also tend to lead to faster clutch wear because they probably slipped it more when engaging.
