Problem: I need help wiring RCA's from the OEM headunit to amp for Zeetoolman sub/enclosure.

Details:
OEM Headunit
Bose Door Speakers
V2 enclosure/sub/mtx amp
Wiring Harness with RCA outputs for OEM headunit
---------------------------------------------------
So I figured out basically everything, but this. Ed was kind enough to send me a wiring harness that was prewired with RCA outputs. But, I think it's wired to power after market speakers with an amp and I'm just looking to have the RCA's out put to the subwoofer/amp.

Can anyone give me some pointers on how to reconfigure this harness to accommodate my needs?

Thanks,
- Z

Actually, let me re-phrase this....simplify...

How/what wires do I tap into from the headunit out to connect RCA's to for the amp/sub install?

You have to run a seperate power wire, a remote power wire, and rca cables to your amp. And then run speakers wire from your amp to your sub

You want to get the 70-1720 harness and also the reverse harness (71-1720) to do this. The end result should look something like the picture below.

If you are keeping the stock speakers, it needs to be a little different. The gray and gray/black, white and white/black wires are supposed to be for the front speakers. You need to have those connected on both harnesses. I have heard from some people that the wires may be reversed and that in fact, green & green black, purple and purple black are actually for the fronts. So you might have to experiment.

I would start with the gray and white wires connected. Then use the green and purple wires from the reverse harness for the RCAs.

That's gotta be it! I have a harness that's almost like this SOS one. Ed (NCC-1701D) was kinda enough to forward it to me. I *think* my car might be the other way around, where I have to use the purple/green wires.

I'll attempt this again tonight and post results tomorrow!

Thanks again,

Ok, that is the harness I have. Played with it last night, and got the stock speakers to work.

When I unwrapped the electrical tape, it looked just as pictured, only these wires were connected:

Yellow
Red
Orange
Blue
Black

Since I'm using the stock speakers, I connected the purple/green wires from the HU to the white/gray wires coming from the car. (my car is one of the weird ones, any other configuration would not produce any sound)

Now, the white/gray wires coming from the HU are connected to the RCA's which is run to the amp.

So got everything wired, fired it up and the sub is still not on?

I have a thick wire from battery to amp, grounded the amp, speaker wires from sub to amp, and RCA's from harness to amp. Am I missing something? or doing something wrong?

Whoa whoa whoaaa.....I didn't do that. Ok, I think this maybe my problem. What wire/color wire and where is it? I saw this on the amp....but does this also come from the harness?

Thanks again, I am quickly learning...

Remote power wire to turn on the amp, that would be the blue wire on the harness, use power antenna. The amp has a remote wire input and just run it to there. Since you have kept door speakers, you will need to tap into the wire, not break the connection because the door speakers need to turn on, too. If the amp does not get a remote wire input, your amp is not going to turn on (if it has an LED it would not light up).

Sorry, I assumed you had that wire hooked up. The modifications you did to the harness may need to be reversed. :)

Ooooooh, ok, it's all starting to make sense!

Thanks for the info. I'm truly thankful for the guidance

Hey man, thanks again. I ended up attaching male/female connections to the harness. This way I could easily play around with the wires. I got everything lined up, the balance knob on the OEM radio works, the sub is hitting harder than I expected, and all is well. I can't wait to drop some 2Pac in!!!

Ed, thanks again for the harness, I owe both of you guys!

Take care,

Zishan,

Thats awesome to hear !!!!!! Thank Zetoolman too !!! for making a great product.....The only thing you will regret is not installing everything sooner.
The best thing about having a V3 is that you lose no space at all and no one knows you have a sub in the car...
