Soooo as some of you might know my timing belt snapped a couple months ago, well I went ahead and had the engine removed, and completely redid the heads, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, complete gaskets, as well as some other various items. Well to make a long story short, we buttoned up the car tonight and it started up and ran great.

After a little bit, we were having problems with what seemed to be a clicking starter so put a charger and jump box on the car.
We then had it running again, with ZERO problems.

We then cleaned the battery terminals, and re-installed them as well as cleaned up a bulk ground on the passenger side frame rail near the radiator.

WELL, SURE ENOUGH WE STARTED THE CAR AND IT HAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE WHATSOEVER.

We proceeded to unplug the traction control unit, thinking it may be a problem and still have no response from it. We did some testing, and the throttle body opens and closes with the car off, but with the key on. WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING THERE IS ZERO PEDAL RESPONSE.

For some reason or another when the car is running there is NO response with the pedal. We tried grounds, all connections, even used a scan tool and reset the check engine light as well as with the clock fuse and still nothing.

The only light on is the check engine light, for an o2 sensor and a few other codes, but they were on before we lost complete throttle response.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAAAATLY APPRECIATED!!! THANKS AGAIN IN ADVANCE!!

Hi Chris,

Remember your car is "Throttle By Wire". Sure sounds like a loose connector or maybe a blown fuse. Do you have a 1995+ Service Manual? I am out of town the next few days, but will return on Friday, LMK if you need a manual. I would give a careful check to you connections/wiring around the throttle body, since the engine has been out:).

Sorry I do not have more to offer at this moment.

Regards,

Ok sounds good Larry... The car is still at Harry's and he has the manual, which we did some reading in and couldn't come up with too much.
It's odd because it started up and ran GREAT, then this suddenly happened.

We also realized it is fly by wire and checked all fuses, as well as the fly by wire control module and cannot come up with any ideas.

We even tried to unplug the TCS computer, thinking possibly it was a traction control issue and still have no response. We also checked the tps wires, and the plug that goes into the throttle body motor and still nothing. It's a wierd problem and may very possibly be something simple.... it's just tracking down the problem.
Thanks again
Chris

On a side note, I believe the manual said to check plug G near the ECU for some sort of reading on the throttle response but we couldn't find a readout which stated which plug was which, or wire location on the plugs.

Perhaps check all your grounds to the motor & make sure everything with that is correct - there is a ground strap that goes from the front bulkhead to the top of the motor for example.
