I like the slim Sony D class amps. Those are the thinnest I've found. Prob won't fit under the seat but definitely will behind the seat.
I use a D class Lanzar optidrive 4x100 that's 1.69" thick x 6.5" x 12.5. It's an OK amp, I'd like better quality but it's compact and gets the job done. Definitely not super clean but good enough for me considering that my nsx is pretty noisy and I just want to over come the engine and exhaust sounds at highway speeds.
The sony D amps are the XM 1S and XM 4S. If you just want to push a sub, I don't think there is one much smaller than this and price is AWESOME since they're some last year stock available on clearance for <$150. I believe the 4 channel and mono amp are the same size. http://www.xplodsony.com/xplod/amplifiers/XM-1S
As for cleanliness, I'm sure there are MUCH cleaner options out there but for alot more money. These are my choices for good power, affordability and compact in size. Maybe the alpine D class? More money though but still compact. For under the seat, you might be out of luck on that one.
My amps is behind the driver seat as I am WAY too short to have the seat back that far any how and I'm primary and only driver.
I don't think there's an amp that can fit under the OEM seats. I'll keep an eye out for one though. I do know of a very small amp, class D, but have to check the dimensions. I'll let you know if it fits.
Update... So the amp is about 9x6.9x1.5 inches, but only likes to see 4 ohm loads. You can either have 150x1 or 250x1, both the same size.
Is there potentially enough room for being able to attach/suspend the amp underneath the seat itself infront of the metal hump? Then give the line enough slack to move around?
I went with an Alpine PDX4.100. They're extremely compact, but are still 2-3" thick.
Check the PDX series amps by Alpine. The PDX4.100 can be had for about $244 on EBay using the 30% Live Cashback right now.
I just finished installing an Alpine pdx in my nsx, I don't see how it's possible to fit any amp under the seat. I installed it right behind the driver seat, I think that was the easiest route.
