I'm finally home from "over there."

I've been back for a couple of weeks now, but I just got back into CA. My wife and I are getting all packed up so we can move up to WA.

It was an interesting time, to say the least. Given the choice, I'd never go back. Being home, and thinking about all the things that could have happened make me realize that part of my survival is simply luck (or divine intervention, if you think like I do).

Now, it's time to focus on two things:

My family, first, and second, getting out of the "conventional" military into somthing more "special." My experience as a "Joe" in the normal army was rather disappointing. Not in the sense that I don't like the job, but because I'm judged by my rank, rather than my performance. Creative thinking seems to be a no-no in the "regular" military. If you appear to be smarter than your superiors (or, at least, my superiors), then they'll do everything they can to make you look stupid to THEIR superiors. In any case, I will be shooting for SF, or maybe Psyops in the moderate future.

But, the main thing is that I'm back home (for now). So I will mostly just enjoy being with my family.

Thanks to all of you who supported me during the deployment. The correspondence meant a lot to me.

Welcome home!!

I wanted to do Psyops for a while. That's some pretty serious training and a lot of people group them right in with SF.

How long do you have in? ETS? Given thought to wandering over to NC?? They're always hiring up there.

Yeah... I wouldn't mind being at Bragg. The only problem is all the upheaval for my family. My wife needs some time to "chill" for a while now that I'm back.

But, if I get selected for SF, I will wind up there for the training anyway. Ideally, I'd get placed with 1st Group (back at Lewis), as they have the AO that I'm most interested in.

Welcome to life. In the real world if you don't have an MBA you don't get to run a company unless you own it.

Creative thinkers really shouldn't have a "job"

Now on the other hand no matter what you do in life you will always have someone to answer to. Don't argue with that person about anything except rate of pay.

If your smart you see how the world just pushes people out of their play dough spaghetti factory. stay away from the hopper.

Thank you for your service!!!I hope you can forget the unpleasent thoughts from your deployment and have a great civilian life.

I was referring to more over in the Moyoke area. The pay over there is great and it is definitely not the 'regular army'.

welcome home! (in the military these days, do they still call the US "the world"?) when i was in SEA, we could hardly wait to get back to the world.

again, welcome home - and thanks for your service and sacrifice on our behalf.
