The biggest problem with that article is the title. He doesn't say the NSX is mediocre. He really says the NSX is perceived by some as mediocre.
But the article meanders and has no clear message. He has some work to do if he wants to become a good journalist.
I will say that Honda will never attain the levels of respect given to the Germans if they stay with FWD. I'm very pessimistic that the NSX replacement will be an edgy Lexus, not a real sports car.
That sounds like something a college student without much knowledge about the automotive industry would write. And did.

I'd venture to say that people that really know cars have no respect for German cars. Their perceived respect is fabricated by marketing and propagated by people who buy these pieces of junk and believe they are state of the art automobiles. The Germans export large numbers of their crap here to sell to ignorant Americans. But as the saying goes, image is everything.

I don't think he is dis'ng German cars in general, just complaining about how much it costs to maintain one. I loved the 2 that I owned, just hated the amount of money it cost to keep them going -- also hated the closest dealership when getting mine fixed under warranty. One of my buddies has two BMW's -- 750 and 740 -- he calls the "The Ultimate Maintenance Machine".
I do like Audi's -- I have very fond memories of driving an A8 around and across German on the Autobahn. I have never owned an Audi -- stigma in German is that "Old Men" drive Audi's -- MB's are "German Taxi's". That from former coworkers in Germany. I hope Audi decides to import the new RS6.
Cheers,
Martin
Say what? A brand new 325i (base model) is the greatest value right now. Brilliantly engineered for the autobahn with craftmanship second to none for a $32K car. I guess I must be one of those ignorant Americans. Confession, I'm a BMW addict. Purchased 3 Beamers over the past eight years. German engineering rocks.
