How about a BBSC update?

Hey all you BBSC owners, give us an update on where things stand. You've got your private list, but it's been quite awhile and people out here are curious to know how it's going. What changes have been made that are expected to become "production"? What's the status of the after cooler and high boost version? Who's trying other possible enhancements/improvements?

Kinda quiet hungh, sjs.
Let me know before anyone else about the brakes.
Also let me know if you can eye a clutch and tell if it is B.S. or not. Yes, I finally received the clutch. Wonders do happen.

I'm interested in hearing about the bbsc/MaxRev intercooler ordeal and finding out where the oil loss is coming from. Also, no word at all on the new xlox oxf valve. Leaving us hangin....

Come to NSXPO, and if the Tochigi Goddess smiles upon us, the "latest-n-greatest" will be there to bare all. Dyno plot? Hopefully, but no promises at this time.

Mine was just "redialed" as per the radical drop in outside temperature. The next 9 months is awesome.
I will "superdial" as I call it w/in the next few weeks at the dyno shop w/ John Thomson from A.D.S (auto diagnostic systems) in chandler and schedule for Mark Basch to be there. We have spoken briefly about this I will install my DC headers 1st.
As far as dependability (great)
Power (great)and only gets better as the temps drop "it's an AZ thing"
Fit and finish (show stopping!)
Cost (I feel it's the best out there)
I will post #'s soon as it's ready. WWW.MYNSX.COM

Hey Len,

If you have any time this weekend we should get together. I’d like a closer look at the A/F meter, the new clutch and your car in general. I’m supposed to be across the river today doing an all day test & tune with the 510, but this lousy weather ruined that idea. The good news is I’m working today instead so I shouldn’t need to work all weekend as originally planned. I’m half thinking about watching a bit of the SCCA races at Gateway on Sunday but still trying to decide between that and taking a nice drive.

Anyway, call or write if you have time and any ideas.

I got a ride in one of the BBSC cars that will be running the intercooler. It was awesome. The power came on early (~3000 rpm) and kept building. It was far superior (pulling power in the low end) to the std. Comptech SC in my car and the boost never got above 4 psi (early testing).

If this is the red car I am thinking of, as data point, the target boost after engine controller issues are resolved is 9 PSI. Better check to see if the nut behind the wheel is good and tight.

Just look me up.

But remember in the opening lines of the movie Days Of Thunder, where Rowdy tells Cole something along the lines of, "Don't dare bend this b****."

So I guess it's safe to say there are no updates. (I don't see why they wouldn't share if there was) 92NSX, did you ever figure out your oil spray/consumption problem?

Yes. I apparently had not remembered the amount that I did add a few weeks prior to checking it that morning. Granted it was a small amount I had to add. I thought the level was supposed to be ABOVE the top dot when if fact between the dots is acceptable. I have talked with MJ,MB,BarnMan and several others who were kind enough to email me asking and suggesting things. When I talked with MB on the phone one day we ruled out any engine damage. I emailed him my dyno plots and am waiting for his response. All is well with car now though. No leaks anywhere.

Thank's for asking !!

That is great news on the oil issue! I was worried for you there for a while.

I know there are at least prototype coolers installed on some of the BBSC cars. I will try to find out the latest here at NSXPO.

I just drove the BBSC, early install without the software updates. My impression is that it feels like stock until 5800 RPM and then it HAULS. WOW! big smile

I have pictures of the BBSC cooler that was just installed in Andy V.'s car. I will post them by this weekend. Andy said he plans to dyno soon.

That is Romeo Ortiz's NSX with a Novi 1000, 440(?) injectors and factory 10.2 pistons. He dyno'ed 426 RWHP. I forget his boost level, but key to his installation is an HKS blow-off valve.

Mine has a water-based aftercooler, a Novi 2000, 550 injectors and aftermarket 9.5 pistons.

Romeo and I are in a "race" to see who hits 450 RWHP first.

However, mine will not be able to reach that power level w/o a more refined engine controller than the Split Second unit. We "accidentally" over-boosted to 9.5 PSI and at certain WOT conditions, the SS box coughed up a hairball and threw the factory ECU into limp home mode. Easily corrected, and we lowered boost to 7 PSI. Target boost for mine is 9 or 10 PSI with a better controller and a better boost valve.

I had the chance to drive Saint in both the above boosted modes, with the 7lb level on the track...All I can say is WOW!

Between the low end boost and the no compliance beam, you can throttle steer that car ALL DAY LONG! Thanks, I mean sorry Andy.

It requires a little trick. The HKS valve bolts to a steel mounting flange. You cannot weld the steel flange to the aluminum aftercooler. Romeo used an aluminum flange from Greddy and bolted the HKS valve to it. It means buying two complete valves assemblies - one from HKS and one from Greddy - and throwing away what you don't need, but it gets the job done.

As you can see in the above picture, the HKS valve is rather large. While there is plenty of room to install such a valve on an air-cooled aftercooler, there may not be enough room to install this valve on a water-cooled aftercooler.

That sounds like fun except I think it'd be easier to use an Aluminum flange that you can buy for the HKS. This is how I attached my HKS SSBOV to my IC on my Supra. You can buy the flange at www.MVPmotorsports.com
