I'm searching for a bodyshop, and every place that someone recommends to me says they won't touch aluminum.

Doesn't Acura have a 800 number or something you can call for them to find you somewhere to take it?

any acura certified dealer should have a list of local and national shops.

Jond,

If I recall, you are in Richmond, VA. When Eddie Whitman wrecked his CTSC NSX, he took it to Bruce's Super Body Shop on West Broad if I recall correctly. They are one of about a dozen shops in the country factory authorized by Audi to work on their aluminum bodies and they did the repair on his NSX, which was close to being totaled. If that doesn't work out for you, and it's drivable, take it to Wagon Work in Northern VA, especially if insurance is paying b/c this place is the premier exotic repair facility in DC metro and it will cost you an arm & leg, but their work is over the top.

Call around and find a shop that does repairs for the Audi A8.

Look for a body shop that is approved by MBUSA. Especially their CL Certified shops. Then cross refrence it with an Acura NSX approved Body shop. I've spec'd out numerous shops, and can tell you that a high end independant guy thats MBUSA approved is your best bet.

I've seen many Acura approved body shops, and they are more in line to work on RSXs and RLs then NSXs. I've seen many MB dealer body shops capable of the same thing. Looking for a CL certified body shop (they have an special aluminum tools to make them CL certified) and you are in much better hands.

If you list where your located, I'm sure someone can help you.

Yep. Nothing beats a personal recommendation, especially for a unique car like ours. ChopsJazz turned me on to a place in San Mateo, and they were excellent.

Richmond, Va.
I don't mind driving a few hours though to have it perfect.

Eddie didn't wreck the red one did he? Are you talking about the old one or the 95?

His red one is the '95. He had abandoned it in his dad's barn and it had been a home for some field mice for a while. Fortunately, I mutual buddy of ours who is quite a do-it-yourselfer rescued it and restored it. I don't know if Eddie has maintained it or if it has fallen by the wayside again since he has several other exotics at his disposal. The CTSC that was wrecked was a late model Silverstone or whatever silver, it could have been a '97-'01, that I don't remember.

Thanks for all of the advise

My local Acura dealer, while really nice people who I have no complaints about, didn't know where to take it. The Audi dealer though, confirmed QWKSLVR. They send all their minor jobs to wagonwork. Of course, because wagonwork appears to be a higher end shop, my insurance co is going to only pay part of the bill :frown:

Anyway, for future reference. How do you find bodyshops:
1. Ask here
2. Ask NSX dealer
3. Ask Audi dealer where they send A-8's.

Thanks again guys
