What does everyone think of this kit and the components? Is there anything else it would need to run smoothly? Is this kit "put together" right? How much is it worth? Any insight would be appreciated. wanna boost my car, but I am hesitant on spending $8000+ for a new Factor X Turbo Kit installed with all the bells and whistles right now....

In my turbo experience it's better off not doing anything if you can't do it F@CKIN SOLID! As in seriously well laid out and no skimping on design or materials. Any less and it will be an endless and possibly damaging headache!!!

Looks pretty gruesome and incomplete.

You might be able to start with that and make it work, but the FMU + auxiliary injector approach is no picnic to tune accurately, will never be well tunes in all load ranges, and can cause serious problems if not done right. The single can exhaust looks like it belongs on a Civic, and I don't see various parts for plumbing the intake or intercooler.

If you knew what you were doing, the parts might be worth a few bucks assuming they are in good shape, but don't expect to just bolt it in and go even if there are other parts not shown.

$8000? When was that anounced? I don't think it ever was, and I don't think they would be happy to hear that someone is spreading rumors. What does bells and whistles include? A fully rebuilt engine? You sound awfully pessimistic about a fully tuned turbo system, yet excited about ebay left over parts. I would use greater caution with my NSX as I seem to always learn cheap parts = poor satisfaction.

Thanks for everyone opinions.

FYI the location of the intercooler is right next to the throttle body and also right next to the turbo.

SJS, sounds like you have a CIVIC muffler on your NSX or something because you seem to point it out so presicely.

I gather that you are the seller. No offense, though I guess my comments were a bit harsh, but I did say that it might be a starting point. You should add the as-installed picks to your auction and more description if it really includes all plumbing. For example, what about the hoses for the intercooler coolant, and a tank for the coolant, etc.? I saw various lines in the pick but don't recall if it said what they are. The flex hose to the air cleaner is less than ideal. Does the cleaner mount inside the fender? When auxiliary injectors are used I prefer that they point towards the throttle body. Having them spray straight across to the other side of the inlet pipe can't be good for atomization. One more thing. What if anything handles timing changes?

But as I said before, for the right price it would be something to play with if the turbo is in good shape, though I'd still pitch the controller and injectors for an AEM or Motec which brings the "right price" down quite a bit.

Your ad says it is not advanced enough for an OBDII car, but AFAIK none of the common stand-alones will work with the OBDII NSX, so owners of those cars are sticking with this type of setup for now. What is your plan, and if you have an alternative why not keep everything except the electronics?

And no, I don't have a Civic muufler and never have had, but that can looks a bit puny for a car trying to push 400hp.

the flex hose for the air cleaner is SS (NOT aluminum) it is very strong (I paid $100 for 5 foot long)
with AEM or Motec is of course top choices no doubt about that. That same muffler has been used in 600 HP Supra... so I don't think it is not adequate. But to get 400WHP on an NSX is not an EASY task (with stock internal and basic turbo set up).
Then again, I am sure I am not asking too much for what it is.

I got the price of $8000+ from talking to Mikey @ Factor X in person. The complete kit w/ AEM Computer is $7500, and installation will run AT LEAST $500, not to mention the $$$$ you spend on little things here and there....
