How many miles are acceptable in a 30K service

What year NSX and what is the actual mileage?

The 30K service calls for a valve adjustment, depending on the year. After a valve adjustment getting the car to full operating temp is warranted to here the valve train at full operating temp. I would add another 5 on top of DocL's estimate for that, so 10 or so would not be hard to justify.

None. What's the point? I usually let mine idle while I pick up tools, clean my hands, etc. Then, I rev it at the throttle cable to listen for clicks or sounds I don't like. (Never heard anything.)

Adjusting the valves is not too difficult and, to me, doesn't necessitate a road test. Then again, I am not a trained nor professional mechanic.

Uh oh, Did someone take a little joyride. It's a nice day for it.

I would guess 10-15 miles depending on how far the freeway is. Sometimes to get it on the freeway it takes a couple of miles. I would prefer my tech to drive a few more miles and make sure she purrs like a kitten.

And if I ever have the opportunity for Larry B to work on my NSX I suppose 100-150 miles would be okay. Especially if the trunk was filled with some sliders!!!

I usually have no problem with an independent tech driving my car as I know who they are personally. As for my car being serviced at a dealership, you never know who took the keys and car for a test drive.

It was driven about 6.5 miles. My thought are that someone got a joy ride on me.

I would say no joy riding:).

What ever job I do, when I am done, the car will be out on the road, brought up to full temp and rechecked. In the winter that may be 10-15 miles when it is fully warm, and please remember the car is not fully warm when the coolant temp is up, it is fully warm when the oil is up to temp, which takes longer. I never want someone to pick up their NSX and have them call me and say "why is it doing this"...?????

I work hard to have no surprises for owners:). The road test allows me to do that;).

You are probably right, but there is nothing you can do about it. Next time you go in, make it clear with them ahead of time what is acceptable so they know you are paying attention.

I wouldn't stress over 6.5 miles.

"... relax!"
