My red/tan 97 NSX-T is otherwise about as clean as I want it. But it looks like one or more prior owners managed to dirty the speaker grills.

Your recommendations please on how to get rid of the blackening of the grills. I prefer not to remove the door panels but if that's the only way....I'll do it.

I assume it's the dark streaks from someones shoe hitting the grill area which is common on the NSX when getting in and out.

Take a cotton towel and soak it with hot water, ring out and then scrub the grill cloth back and forth. That should remove most of the marks. If not, you'll need to use a carpet cleaning solution.

I have found the best carpet/fabric detailer to be the carpet cleaner "Resolve". It works great for detailing those fuzzy kick panels on doors that inevitably get marked by someone raking their shoe across it while exiting. It will also work for the speaker cover material but you will need to be careful. As the material gets wet strong scrubbing will cause it to stretch. I like the idea of using a toothbrush because you can only scrub so hard with it. I've also found Resolve to not discolor the fabric which is always a concern with many off-the-shelf cleaners. Good luck.
