In my car, I have removed the spare tire and the spare tire bracket.
Instead, I want to mount a radiator duct that will direct the air coming through my radiator to the opening in my NSX-R hood.

To mount my air duct, I need to remove the metal bar that normally protects the ABS-system for any interference from the spare tire.
In the manual, I can see that it is mounted with two long bolts on either side, but I just cannot seem to find a way to get my wrench in between there to get to these *** bolts..

Does anyone know of a trick to get there. Or is there no way to get there without removing half of your ABS-system??

I removed mine for the same reason 2 weeks ago. It is a PITA. The back 2 were'nt too bad but the front 2 are more difficult. I had to move the connectors right in front to get to the front bolts. They're almost impossible to see w/out a flashlight.

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply. So you finally DID remove them working from the top of the car then?
Was starting to think it might be easier to jack the car up and try from below.

Today, I finally removed the ABS protection bar.

The rear two mounting bolts are easily accessible from underneath the car.
Of the front two bolt, only one can be accessed from below, but you will need a very long wrench for that.
In the end, it is easier to do it from the top.
First, you loosen the four ABS-connectors. Then, you have to remove the connector mount right behind the ABS-connectors it because it sits exactly above the second bolt. There is also a small hose attached to it, so you have to be a bit careful. After that, you can take out the second bolt.

Then the protection can be taken off. It is made of aluminum also, so it is very light.
The bar plus the four mounting bolts turned out to weigh only 224 grams or 0.49 lbs so in terms of loosing weight, the effect is very small.

Recently removed mine to facilitate the OEM duct install. Took < 15 mins to get bolts/bar out and was done fom above with the car on ts wheels.

Dont know why you guys appear to have had problems as on my UK car it really was straight forward.

Perhaps your ABS-system is slightly different and also maybe because your car is RHD it might be just a bit different.
Possible, I might want to take a look at your car coming weekend

Sorry for the late reply. I did infact remove all bolts from the top. Not without some harsh cursing along the way. Glad to you you got it off. Mines been off awhile now. Need to find time for the duct install now!
