HSC without wierd B pillar and other pic

The B-pillar is holding up the roof. How would you suggest they do this otherwise?

Forget the roof and make it a convertible.:D
I bet Ice-T would buy one for sure.

aiken drum got it right. i would buy the HSC(putting performance aside) if it just had the greenhouse and rear of the NSX. i believe that each new generation of a car should have certain aspects (ones that are original to the car) of the previous generation.

I prefer it!

The new HSC design isn't bad fundamentally, but lacks perfect harmony and balance which is mandatory in brilliant design.

I just don't understand why they put round tail lights when the overall design is aimed toward slight curves and sharp edges.

The strange or counter intuitive lines of B pillar aren't enough exploited and they should be a kind of thema in this design.

When we look at those pictures, I think the HSC is great looking:

and the “weird B-Pillar” doesn’t look bad. It even gives the car a somewhat spaceship look.

So I tried to visualize what would this design be looking when integrating side to side tail lights design like the NSX with the HSC touch. Because it is well known that its tail isn’t very much appreciated.

This would be giving this:

I find this very nice and furthermore able to accent, to strenghten and to legitimize the B-Pillar original lines.

I am actually completely redesigning the car’s tail in a way to match this new side look.

I will try to integrate a rear diffuser and to strenghten the lowereness and wideness of car while putting accent on the big 20 inches rear wheels...

Of course, a similar approach could be done with the nose of car...

Cheers all!

Effer

Thanks Neo for your perfect explanations. I made it!

Well done Effer, happy to help. Your photoshopped tail-lights are an improvement IMHO.

I totally agree with what you're saying; especially regards the round tail-lights (which were copied from other current exotics  ). The B-pillar is also intrusive by Soichiro is right: how else do they hold the roof up? Design has to follow function.

Looking forward to seeing your redesigned tail. And someone please remove these 14" rims off the HSC. :D

I still think the concept drawing of the HSC looks great. Unfortunately, somewhere between paper and carbon fiber it lost something essential. Personally, I think they lost the upswoop of the bottom of the door towards the scoop. I should do a chop to re-introduce that look.

Okay, so here's one tweaked to look more like the concept. The changes are pretty subtle, but it actually makes the HSC much more attractive to my eye.

Changes:

- Made the edge of the car (where the door handle is on a normal car) straighter up toward the top of the rear wheelwell, as in the concept sketch.
- Made the side scoop closer to the sketch, though I had a hard time knowing for sure what was intended. This involved changing it to angle down and lengthening it.
