learn every word in the dictionary.

so my sis and my dad were looking through the dictionary last night, (may I add that this is a VERY BIG dictionary) and I asked my dad if he'd buy me an NSX if I learned every word in that dictionary and he said yes...and I made him promise. There is approx. 2,200 pages in the dictionary, and 60 words per page. That's 132,000 words. of course, he only said it because he thinks it's never going to happen. but i'm going to make this happen. I just graduated from h.s., don't have a job and am not going to school at the moment. I have all day and night to study this dictionary. my dad is a man of his word so i'm not worried that I'll never get the NSX at the end. you'd think he'd know by now how much I love NSX's... how CRAZY I am for them, and that I'd do ANYTHING for one.... including learn the entire english language (just about) for one. do you think its possible to learn every word in a 2,200 page dictionary within a year? do you think it's possible to learn every word in a 2,200 page dictionary in general?

It's doable, but you got to have a superb memory system.

What is with the NSX that makes people react and fall in love with it?

wow, thats devotion, some day, I wanna have an NSX, but I dont have time to memorize a dictionary

good luck with that though =)

And working the 1000s hours you would need to learn the dictionary?

Even at 20$ per hour, you would get 20000$ ;)

And you would not need to corrupt your father's bank account! :D
...and you would be sure to succeed! :p

Go for it.

English is not my first language. When I first came to the U.S., I tried to memorize every single word in Webster dictionary. I studied it whenever I had time. I underlined the words that I could not remember, and went back to those words a day/week/month after. When I finished going over the all vocabs in the dictionary, I went back to the first page, and tested myself all over. Although there were still more words that I could not remember, the joy of completing it was inexplicable.

In reality, memorizing everything will be very difficult, but I am sure that your effort may well impress your father.

For me just using a looking at a word and trying to memorize it is a wasted of time. I need to use the word, either spoken or written and written is better. So use the words in you writing and add them to your vocabulary. Before you know it you will have them all memorized.

Uh... whats a dictionary?

I hear the word "gullible" is not in there? Is that true?

:D :D :D

hahaha j/k... it is.

OMG, Ana is training to be Prime's Grammars Nazi!

Anyway, good luck. That's got to be a Guinness record or something. If you only get to memorize half the words in the dictionary, maybe a Type R Integra is a consolation prize? :D

Ana, it would probably be easier to just get a rich boyfriend to buy you one...But then again, if you can remember every word in the dictionary, you would probably zip through college and buy yourself one when you become a rocket scientist....Good luck....
