  today, my 97 (6 speed) nsx cannot move to anywhere because i cannot shift into any gear. it's mannual. anyone knows what kinda problem it is. i can start the engine. also, clutch seems shorter and shorter. if i try to engage clutch, the pedal should be tight. but the tighten length feels shorter and shorter within 3 days.i think it's one of the problems.
i was looking at the ground. nothing leaks down. clutch is worn out?????

IMO, if clutch were worn out, you would still be able to fully depress the pedal. The engine would rev up but the car wouldn't move any, if at all, if the clutch were burnt. It would stink REAL bad also.
Does the shift lever move at all?

^What he said. Most likely a flush and fill will only band-aid the problem for a short period of time. You've got a bad master/slave cylinder.

shift knob can be moved left and right. but cannot be shifted into any gear. this morning, it already seems freak hard to shift into any gear. good thing is that i still moved it out of garage in order to tow it to dealer. otherwise, it will be really headache. after i parked the car, i tried to shift again. this time. totally dead. i guess it's something leaking inside, and not visible.
i was looking at the bottom of the car. didn't see anything leaks off.

Your clutch master leaking and sending fluid under your drivers side floor mat, which is why you cannot see it. If you check the small reservoir for the clutch pedal(under the hood next to the brake reservoir) I am pretty sure it will be empty.

Get some brake fluid, fill it up, and pump the pedal, you may need to do it with your hand at first to get the pedal to come back up. Check the fluid level every 5 pumps. If you do this for a short time, the pedal will be back and the clutch will work fine. Then you can drive it to the service place of your choice and have it repaired.

thx. Larry. like u said. that small one was empty. i filled some DOT 3 brake fluid. engage clutch a few times. it works now. anyway, something leaking. must fix it. but u save me 100 dollors for towing fee. really appreciate your knowledge.

now. dealer quoted me that master cylinder $500 cam plugs $478 ( include parts+labor) timing belt, water bump, etc $835 (labor only)

fair deal??? anyone knows.

500 for just the master cylinder is kinda steep.

at 500$ they would be charging you close to 280-300$ for labor.

do you have an independent nsx specialist locally?

regards

Rob

but . RON. u are like 90 miles away for the whole trip. and it's not possible that someone sends me back if i drop my car into your shop. i am in San Gabriel Valley area.

i dont think anyone is able to say that he's a NSX pro merchanic in San Gabriel, Arcadia area. seems very risky.

only 2 dealers can guarantee to solve the problme if i send them my nsx.

my potential needed service is VALUE ADJUSTMENT now.
clutch still having a pleanty of time. everything else seems fine after glendale vechile inspection. this time took me around 1800 at all. dad is really bitching me at all after he heard the cost.

no problem. next time, u can help me out.

today, i saw another black nsx in their service dept. it's totally stock. it should be a 91-01 one because of its body kit.

dad is really annoying at all now. i think he gonna make crap around me in the whole month.

I don't blame him, especially if he works for wages. Money generally comes in very slow compared to how fast it goes out. Listen to your old man, you'll find he gets smarter every year.

The clutch master is a job that you can easily do yourself, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty. Doesn't require any special tools or knowledge and should cost you less than $200. The service manual is free and available online. (edit: special tools, you will need a flare nut wrench set ~$20).

Doubtful you NEED a valve adjustment at all (recommended sure, but unlikely you really *need* it) . Again, this is a job that you can do yourself and the special tool costs $10 on Amazon.

i am just kinda stupid at any car work. if anyone is willing to help me late,i will be glad to come there instead of visiting dealer.
i dont mind to get dirty hands, but need a pro to teach me.

actually it's 52200 miles. 97 yr.

o yeah, dealer charging horribe labor. if i can do it myself, it will save me lot of money in next 100,000 miles becasue i plan to keep it at least 10 yrs.

but dont want to spend unreasonable money in dealer.

anyone knows if there is any nsx pro near San Gabriel ,Arcadia Area, Cali.

what's the usual mileage to get valve adjustment?

If you plan on keeping your NSX for 10 years, it is worth learning to fix the easier things yourself (easier is relative). Good luck.

Since I don't have a jack that will fit under the NSX

I use the stock jack to get the car up high enough to get a hydraulic floor jack under the car. I normally put the stock jack at a corner, lift a couple of inches, then get the bigger jack in under the center jack point and raise the whole side up until I can get jackstands under both the front and rear.

Time to get AAA! :D

And yea its definitely the master cylinder..... same symptoms as mine and Rob fixed it. :D

this time, it took me extra 500 bucks to do it in dealer since i was only planning make a TB WP service there only. how mcuh u spent with Rob

Cant remember the exact price - I had lots of other stuff done at the same time... but it was definitely cheaper than $500! Give him a call im sure he wont mind! :D

I've done that too. I don't get under the car that much, but I finally did laminate two 2X6's and beveled one end to make myself a ramp so that I can get a jack under it, just to be able to clean the wheels easier when I wash it.
