how heavy are 5-spoke, 2-piece, 17/18 i-forge wheels? (i don't know the name but they are the commonly seen ones). anyone knows the 'ballpark'?

The 5 spoke wheels are the Aero's. They(mine) were decent in weight. Not cast iron heavy, but not lightweight by any means. I actually had the Flux (6 spoke design) in 18/19's.

Hopefully someone with 17/18's will chime in about weight.

I have the sprints {7 spoke}. I'd gladly pull one and weigh it and the tire if I had a scale. I'll check around this week.

thx guys,
the main reason was to learn if they are fairly light, which i gather they are not.

Zishan had 18/19's. Certain they were the Iforged flux. And another guy, forgot his name now (Sorry bro! lol) has a set in houston and they're the same flux, only painted silver.

You can see that a rear 19x9.5 is about 24 lbs. Light compared to many out there but not the lightest. I have a set of Privat Reserve in 18x8 and 19x9.5 and they're pretty dang light, ~20lbs & ~21lbs according to the shipped weight.

i really like those privats but am set on 17/18 so they are out.

what would be a 'good price' on a set of used i-forge?

welll, there is a set on a wrecked car i saw yesterday- or rather the centercaps say 'i-forge'.

Take pics. Post em here or see if you can find them on the iforge site.

it is kind-of-a-hike to get there- i offered the guy help with parting it out. it is a 91 with nice seats and wheels but Completely smashed all the way to the firewall (i think one wheel may be bent). anyway, the guy is a dreamer, he bought it at an auction and wants to sell it for $12.5 with a salvage title. he 'didn't want to understand' the front rails are gone and the only way to save the car is to tube the front-end so maybe after he sits on it for a while i will hear from him.
anyway, thx for your replies, got the info i needed.

Bent rims is no problem for me to get repaired. Work that edge to your advantage.

You know, I've never seen a set of 17/18 iforged.

I've got a set of 17 -18s

I love the looks, but I just spent $300 to have one repaired.. Leaking THROUGH the rim... sounds crazy... never had a wheel leak.... I-forged wouldn't warranty either....wheel only ad about 10k miles on it too.

They look good. Never seen or heard of 17/18 iforged before. Where was it leaking from? 2 piece? 3 piece rims? $300 is TOO much.

2 piece. I picked these up from Science of Speed about 2 years ago. I first noticed it leaking around a weld on the inside....thought it odd.
Called I-forged and they said..."oh.. ya, that was the first design... you probably abused the wheel"... no,,, no abuse.....!

Anyway, they told me the actual rim,, barrel was leaking.. so that would be leaking through the aluminum??? Looked perfect when I removed the tire....just couldn’t figure out how it could seep / leak like that. So they rebuilt the entire wheel and replaced the barrel. What are you going to do when you have 3 in perfect shape and you need four to drive on

I really do think they make the car look great though..

yep, could leak right through the metal- bunch of micro-cracks from working the metal improperly, especially cold-working aluminum while rolling- read amateurs.

Thanks for the responses...

Just when you thought you paid "good money" for a premium wheel.... you get to pay EVEN MORE to have it fixed....

Maybe a can of Fix-a-Flat would have saved me a few bucks

It only took em about 6 weeks to turn it around too! Plus freight.

The real issue was that the wheel had never been abused.. typical sunny day car...driven only 25k miles in 5 years wheel only had less then 9k miles in 2 years on em... no damage or abuse. Yet they insisted or strongly implied that it was my fault that it was leaking.... not there's

I asked for some type of split or partial warranty.. nothing.

are those rims the iforged sebrings, are they nsx specific?

thanks

I've got a set of 17 -18s

I believe they are "Rev" series.. don't think they were NSX specific...?? Chris at SS sold em to me, so maybe they were

No details... Chris just mentioned that he will see if he can do anything from his side with I-forged... bascially being my advocate when he really didn't need to be. Nice to know you've got a distributor who stands behind their products.. etc... just felt he went above and beyond....

I've purchased a few things from Chris and SS... every time I needed help or info everyone was helpful. No matter how big or small the order was, I felt like they were taking care of me.

NOW... just need to figure out how or when I can hve them do the FI thing for my ride....:)

Chris.. I think you need a Harley.. and I need your new super charger....:)
