Hey all! I want to build a race/street car suited for JGTC. I want a carbon fiber JGTC style kit not a frp like scienceofspeed.com has. I know they have a few jgtc style c.f. parts but I want the whole kit like that. Do you know of any race compay that build high performance pistons, blocks, rods, lsd's(is the mugen one available?),axels as well as other engine parts needed to suit 600+hp? What suspension kit do you recommend? I like the tein re. Aslo does mugen make exhaust pipes or just headers? For the body kit im looking for c.f. f and r bumers,c.f. underbody tray,c.f. f and r fenders,c.f. r diffuser,c.f. mirrors,c.f. hood,c.f. doors,c.f. engine cover,c.f. fixed headlights and darkend or custom tail lights,c.f. wing,c.f. duct and side vents,c.f. brake cooler vents, and any other carbon fiber parts for the body, suspension, chasis,or engine. Im also looking for lexan windows. I know the ducts come with a lexan hatch usually but I need the door windows and windshield. Is there a company that sells lexan or can you cut it yourself at a local shop? Im also looking for alot of engine parts.

Wow I typed alot. If you have any advice please let me know. I just want the best car. A couple other things im looking for is clutches, flywheels, short shifter's.

yeah, give me 2 million dollars, I can get all of those things you want. Directly from Honda and Mugen, not some aftermarket stuff. Deal?

Whoa George...don't lay on the profit, I'll get you a JGTC NSX for only 1.5 Mil.
thats a $500,000 savings from Mr. MaoMao "I will rip you off" NSX.

Seriously, if your looking to compete in the JGTC, you're better pff buying a JGTC car. I think the Retired Kenwood GT2 NSX was being sold for only $250,000 or so. Thats a much easier way to go.

Guys, Im not sittin nice yet if you know what I mean. I mean a body kit I can buy. I want it to be JGTC spec, im not sure if Im going to race it cause I wouldnt have the money to replace parts for a whole season when they break. In the picture gallery on nsxprime under forums they have a topic called body kits. Can you look at that and tell me if socery makes the yellow kit or not or who does if it isnt socery. If so whats the price? What suspension kit do you guys recommend? Thanks.

Last I checked, the JGTC doesn't run any events on this side of the pacific ocean, so that'd be a big budget concern (taking your race team to Japan and Malaysia).

A lot of the Taitec parts that Science of Speed offers are real JGTC parts. And he does offer the Marga Hills pieces in carbon fiber for a higher price (at least last I checked), but I guess they're not actual JGTC pieces.

Of course, a real race-spec Aero kit would be completely un-useable on the street (not enough ground clearance).

I've heard that you can buy a real JGTC GT500 NSX motor from Toda for $125,000. I don't know if they have a toned-down streetable version available. I'm guessing where there's $$$ there's a way.

Dali Racing has a triple-plate carbon fiber clutch for $4k that's should be able to handle 1000hp "all day", and is still streetable in terms of engagement and pedal feel.

And while the Tein RA/RE are nice suspensions, they're nowhere near as nice as what you'd need to be competitive in a real race series. Try custom JRZ/Ohlins/Moton/Penske/Whatever umpteen-way-adjustable remote-reservior threaded-body dampers ringing in at multiple thousands per shock.

And then of course there's the matter of a full roll cage would be quite inhibiting to street use. I'd say if you want a street car that you can have fun with on the track, then that's what you should build. Real race cars are not street cars, that's just the way it is.

Lastly, I can't help questioning things like who you are, how old you are, whether you've actually got money for a project like that, etc. And I mean no disrespect, if you've got the cash, then I envy you.

Hey im 21 and I work at the Murfab shop in Gainesville,FL. I work on imports and a few american cars such as neons. I bought my 94 nsx from autotrader.com from which it was repossesed. It wasnt stolen and didnt have parts missing as I had it inspected before I bought it. Anyway I got it for $8499. I've been saving my money since I was about 16 and I got about $40k to spend on the car. I had close to 50k but the car took most of that and I had a quick tune up done on the oil, brakes, and tires. Im attending the U.F. for my business degree. One more year to go and I am going to see what needs to be done so I can open my own tuning shop. Well now you know me so help me please, lol. I think I have enough for what I want to do.

Here is my realistic car im shooting for.
1. Car: 1994 Acura NSX-Manual-59k miles

2. Taitec JGTC Style body components or Dali racing carbon fiber body kit or marga hills body kit(Havent decided)Consisting of c.f. hood,c.f. f and r fenders,c.f. f and r bumpers,c.f. under tray,c.f. r diffuser,c.f. engine cover,c.f. doors(please let me know if you can buy these or how to make them),c.f. mirrors,c.f. roof with aluminum edges,c.f. fuel tank door,c.f. side vents,c.f. brake cooler vents,c.f. fixed headlights,c.f. custom darkend tail lights, and some other carbon fiber body parts.

3. Tein RE coil-over suspension,Okuyama/momo/mugen/or some other strut brace, comptech or some other f and r sway bar kit

4. Try to get a Mugen 1.5way lsd. There discontinued.

5. OZ/bbs/momo/mugen wheels, for the oz I want the 1 lug F1 style wheels 18"by10" r and 18"by9" f or 17"by9" f,the same sizes for bbs and momo but they would be 5 lug wheels, momo sport or race model, bbs rm or other model, the mugen is 16"by8" f and 17"by9" r I think.

6. Pirelli high performance z rated tires, not sure which sizes.

7. Second set of wheels and fit them with yokohama slicks from daliracing.com for the track

8. Momo F1 style model 29-270mm suede black,Momo model cup gt black racing seats,Momo race 6pt harnesses either roll bar mounted or standard mounted 3" belts black,Momo harness pads 3" black,Comptech or other company c.f. dask kit,Momo c.f. race shift knob,Momo black leather shift boot,Momo c.f. parking brake knob,Momo black leather parking brake boot,Momo race pedals-aluminum,Momo co-driver foot rests-aluminum,Momo anti-skid plates-aluminum,Various gauges,Clarion or Eclipse head unit(Stereo),Audiobahn wires/rca's/connectors/etc...,Audiobahn capacitors or buy 2 race batteries(one for car one for stereo),Audiobahn or POLK/MOMO subs,Audiobahn or POLK/MOMO components(mids and tweeters),Audiobahn amps, fiberglass box from audioworx or myself, and various other interior and stereo products.

9. Custom twin turbo kit from [email protected] or nsxmodified.com

10. Various engine and transmisson parts such as cams, pistons, rods, clutches, flywheels, high lift vtec set, short gears, short shifter, block, headers and exhaust system w/ high flow catalytic converters and exhaust down pipes, carbon fiber engine covers,c.f. intakes(I have an idea for a tri way intake including both side vent and a hatch duct) and other engine/transmission parts from various companies such as Mugen, gruppe m,comptech,etc...

11. Or toss out the turbo and have comptech build me a na race engine with those other engine/transmission parts.

12. Paint it and put on Racing decals especially the #1 and my parts manufacturers.

13. I dont know from there and probably wouldnt have the money to do the rest.

What do you think. Thanks.

Alrighty, then. First of all, $40k won't get you anywhere near your goals unfortunately. :/

All those body pieces will probably cost $10k+ for a full kit.

Tein RE is under $2000 (I think? Check Science of Speed and Dali Racing). However, I'm willing to bet you'd be fine with the RA, which is the same except for the height-adjustable shocks. If you'll be driving the car on the street all the time, though, you probably won't be able to lower it enough to run out of shock travel. Dali Racing swaybars are the way to go. Check the website for pricing. They're in the $3-400 range for the set.

I'd skip the LSD unless you're having handling/driveability problems that can't be addressed by re-packing the OEM LSD.

Wheels will run $2-5k for a set, depending on what you get. You could probably spend even more, too, if you wanted.

Pirelli Tires? Why not Bridgestone S-03s or S-O2s? They're great tires. As for sizes... depends on your fenders and stuff. Anything more than 235/40/17 in front requires lots of work and testing.

Steering wheel is a couple hundred bucks, and you'll probably want to hit up Science of Speed for a hub to mount it. Dali racing has some momo seats with mounting brackets, but I don't think it's the one you mentioned. The interior stuff is up to you. As for the stereo, the NSX is hard to do. I'd just hit Dali Racing since they've got a proven setup that's about as good as you'll get in a car that you still want to perform well.

Custom twin turbo alone will probably ring in $10k+. If you want 600+ horsepower, you'll be over $20k with all the engine management and tuning you'll need to make it work reliably. Comptech engine internals are $4300 I think. Not cheap. Track down David Bernert, as he's got a lot of experience squeezing lots of power out of the NSX motor. It'll take a LOT of money to get an NA motor that comes close to a basic supercharger, and it'd be WAY behind in terms of reliability and street driveability.

Bottom line, it sounds like you need to do some more looking around on the major parts sites (www.comptechusa.com, www.daliracing.com, www.scienceofspeed.com) and do some budgeting. For some of the other stuff you'll have to do even more homework. I think you'll be unpleasantly surprised how fast your $40k will run out when it comes to modifying the NSX. It doesn't go as far as it does with a civic or integra, or even a supra or an RX-7.

Best of luck with the project, though. Even if you get 1/3 of the stuff you want, I'm sure if you plan well, it'll turn out to be quite an enviable car.

-Mike

Do you own any...um what's the word? Oh yeah. EQUITY! Give me the $40K and in 5 years I will hand you your JGTC NSX. God gave you a blessing (if not a HOT car) so use what is left of your dough and invest in your future. Not something that can hit the wall at turn 2 and wipe you clean.

Hey thanks for replying man. The front tires are going to be 295/35zr's since I will get the widend f fenders and im also getting the widend r fenders and those will be 335/30zr's or 345/30zr's or if I can get the small produced oz f1 style 1 lug wheel that works with the pirelli 25 series zr's ill get those. There like 355/25/18 zr's. Thats awesome. The kit only costs $5800 with a $55/h labor rate. I can get crower rods and a crower drive shaft with JE 8:1 pistons and the installation with the kit cost for around $10k. It works at about 20lbs.-25lbs. of boost. When I know if he wants me to put his address out on the net I'll let you know. It sounds like a deal to me. The Mugen LSD would increase my acceleration so why not get it? Im not sure so im asking you guys. I already got prices on all the Momo parts,OZ wheels, paint, decals from my local dealer. I think Daliracing offers the tein re kit cheaper than sos.com offers the ra version so ill get that from them. Ill go with there swaybars too. I install car audio and I'm pretty sure what I have planned will work. I dont want 1 10" woofer thats not loud at all. When I put the MOMO seats in it will leave me more room behind the seats as they will be closer to the steering wheel and im taking out the back part of the center console which will leave me alot of room. Im thinking of not putting a passenger seat in and welding that door shut and making that whole side a fiberglass box. That would cost more than I expected though.

Why???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Why not weld the other door shut and fill the car up with water and put fish in it.
biggrin.gif

Sorry I couldn't resist.

Good luck with you project. Save the stereo for last and post pics.

Yes I will be saving the stereo for last as I might run out of doe here. Im welding the door shut just enough so you cant open it not to make it heavier at all. The fiber box will weigh noting. I had a box once that only weighed 3.6lbs. Its much lighter than wood. I need air space if I want good woofers that will be loud enough for me. If I took out the passenger seat and made a box from the floor to the roof to the door and all the way around behing my seat it could get loud in there. Still anyone know about crower rods, crower drive shaft and JE 8:1 pistons?

------------------
Racer

I don't know why I'm entertaining this but, didn't you just say you could already get the parts you are asking about. I have built custom fiberglass enclosures before. A fiberglass box that size will weight a lot. You are talking about a lot of glass and resin.

I didnt mean the box that would take up the passenger side. That would weigh more. The first box I was talking about that would go behind the seats could be around 5lbs. for 2 12"s or 2 10"s or something.

About me getting the rods and drive shaft and the pistons thats what my guy told me. I just want to know how much they cost seperately so I know if im getting ripped off. I havent ever seen these parts.

I can't believed no one has commented on the $8500 complete running and driving 94 NSX. Seriously? You bought the car from autotrader? Or it was listed on autotrader? I'm a little confused.

If I put 2 12"s in it this car would have excellent s.q. and it wouldnt raddle my nsx apart as thats not loud enough. If I made that other box that would be debatable as to which woofers I would use. I put 4 aw1805x 18" audiobahn woofers that are 1200w rms with a audiobahn class d 1200watt rms amp on each woofer in the back of an integra taking up the trunk and the back seat(as we removed the back seat)leaving no room and it sounded great and competed well. I install mobile audio/electronics, I think I know enough since ive been doing it since I was 14. Not to say you dont know what your talking about, I can see where your coming from.

Jason it was listed on autotrader. It was repo'ed. If you go to autotrader.com and put in the price range 0 to 15000 you see what I mean. They go fast though at that price. I missed two of them before I snagged this one. From part-master.com

If they can pull this of with a del sol, just think of how cool that $8,499 NSX with a welded-shut door and 295-width front tires can be:

Did anyone check out autotrader yet? Part-master.com lists the nsx's on autotrader that are repo'ed. You have to be a member though to log into part-master's website. The guy who told me about this, John Meed, you may of heard of him because he had a 2.4 sec in the 0-60 94tt supra and 9.5sec in the 1/4 with a topspeed of 204.3mph. His car was in I think the january issue of superstreet, someone check that out. I'll call him and find out which issue it was in. It wasnt in the section where it shows the whole cars just the drag section where it shows the times and where the cars came from. Anyway John got his supra for $4k with 47k miles and only a scratched right rear bumper and busted right rear tail light. I think you guys should check it out and make you a little race/street nsx with the extra doe you would have.

Just so no other serious NSX buyer falls for this. I purchased a membership with www.part-master.com They just give you a list of wrecking yards. You could do the same by doing a search on a major search engine.

I bought my membership a while back. I knew it was probably BS but didn't care it was only $16.
