Ideas for July meet

Hi all,

I've tossing around some ideas for my first (hopefully oganized) meet in July, and looking for some feedback. So please give me ur opinions and suggestions.

1. Photo Shoot:
• This idea came up when I was recently in California. My dad had taken my brothers '03 cobra & my NSX to the rose bowl for some photos. So my idea is to some how track down some photagraphers to get some nice professionally done photos. Of course no photo shoot would be complete without some beautifull ladies (will need help with this one as well :) but I've got some ideas).

2. Top Speed Run:
• Came up with this idea after watching a Bugatti Veron try to outrun an F-18, hehe. I figured if I can somehow track down an abandoned airfield that we all may have an opportunity to really open up the throttle, or just go nuts with donuts, burn-outs etc. Of course finding this "airfield" is the tricky part.

3. Point Defiance mini Cruz:
• Ok I know this one doesn't sound like much, but haveing a bunch of hot cars enjoying a nice (slow) 5mile drive with areas for pictures and possibly heading to the waterfront afterwards for some good food, just might be ever so slightly, enjoyable for some. (Geez who am I kidding? Hehe)

If I can cone up with other ideas, I'll add them accordingly. Suggest away...

Thanks,
Chris from Tacoma

Depending on you guys, we are going to have the June meet at PR, so you could rule out #2. (I also believed it's quite hard to find a long flat straightaway for top speed run, it's really not that fun yet dangerous.)

#3 sounds like normal meet many people had done.

So...... seems like #1 is the most interesting. What we could do also, is that you could find a spot that we could set up some tri pot and do some blow by vid. (Tunnel, downshift into corner...etc.) It's been the thing I wanted to do ever since I have my nsx. With us all having diff. degree of modifications and different exhuasts... It Will BE FUN>>>>

its funny you should mention that, because there just so happens to be a short, dark, turning exit and entrance tunnel right by the 5 mile drive I mentioned. Heh, I was actually going to take everyone through it on the way to the waterfront, should that be what we do.
I guess we have a +1 for #1 and .5 for #3 hehe.

Alright, I've decided to make my first meet an "all day" event, here's the details.

Date: July 19th, Saturday
Why? My Birthday.
Event(s): 1. Short (Slow) cruise through the point defiance park.
Why? Gives us a chance to take in the scenery with our beautifull cars and great place for pictures/videos
2. Drive through small tunnel heading to waterfront.
Why? Good opportunity to record our exhausts exiting a tunnel and of course we might be hungry for lunch.
3. After lunch and chit-chat, head to Dr. Volks house (Near Burien) for an evening BBQ & Drink, with a lake to swim in, cro-ke and just plain good company.
Why? Why not?

Well guys, give me any feedback. Maybe a tally when to start and where. Food ideas for the BBQ and just any input.

Thanks,
Chris

You might rethink the Pt Defiance idea as the Tacoma/Ruston Police Depts do not need to pay for their entire years fund on just one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our mustang club was going to do this last year and they told us that would be considered "Crusing" and that is not allowed. They would also be VERY happy to write tickets for loud exhaust and NO front plate, etc.

*******Just a suggestion before you go too far******

I believe the "crusing" is only if you go back and forth on Ruston. I have a friend of mine who knows one of the policemen that works on Ruston, I will find out what is acceptable. The point defiance drive is slow and not "policed" like Ruston way is. Either way I'll look into it.

First of all Happy Birthday Chris. :) Maybe you deserve some nice presents like... ahem stacy's side skirt ahem.... ;)

I won't be available on Saturday though... :(

LOL!! Thanks. Or maybe a discounted set, hehe. Just remember this will be an all day event, so you may be able to join us later.

I just talked to the local PD, they said considering the time, it shouldn't be a problem. I will do a little more inquiry, but we shouldn't need to worry about the PD.

Ok, what kind of beer does everyone like to drink? I'm going to have to get a keg. lol

oh jeez... you guys are making it difficult for me again... (should i take a Saturday off for Chris?? or say, the tunnel vid)

Sat is hard for me too, but I will figure something out. Can't miss Chris's B-day party!
I got someone to silkscreen NSX t-shirt, red (3 inch logo) on black T. It will cost $12 per T, but I have to order 24 of them. Anyone interested? If I have enough people to do this, I can bring them to Doc's house. Free one for you Chris.

WooHoo!! A "free" gift!! LOL  hope to see you guys there.

If I don't have to work that day then I am in.
But this is what I just found:

Good catch, I will further investigate what we're alowd to do and not... Like I stated in my previous post, I spoke with a Tacoma Policeman, who stated it shouldn't be a problem so long as we keep with the flow. He did however give me a number to call for further info. I will either do that this weekend or just drive down there this weekened and ask..... Anyone want to join me? Hehe :)

Chris

What day is the drive? Sat or Sun:confused:
