Alright... I've had my iPhone for about 1 1/2 years and never had a problem really. Now all of the sudden my "edge" Internet stops working. This was a few days ago. If it does work then it is slow. When I say slow I mean the page doesn't load 90% of the time before the phone says you can't connect to safari. The thing to is that SOMETIMES it does work. Like this morning. And it works when connected with wireless. But not having the Internet sometimes and having it sometimes is truly annoying.

Any advice before I go in the apple store tomorrow and demand a new phone under my extended warranty?

Do you operate your iPhone through your iTune?

If you have, do you constantly back up the data?

If you do, just have the iTune wipe and reinstall the operating system.

Which software version are you on? I know the one prior to 2.1 had some pretty major bugs (mine had a serious acid trip going on), that were solved with forcing it into recovery and restoring/updating.

I think it was like a care plan. Like it covers any manufacture defects.

I don't opperate through iTunes really and don't back up my data.

The software I have now is 2.0. Before that I had whatever originally came with my phone. Ever since I updated it a month or two ago my phone has gotten slower like the keys lag when I type and when I search my phonebook it's delayed a whole few seconds before it moves to whichever contact I push.

The thing is that my edge was working perfectly a few days ago... Now it just sucks.

I know the first thing these guys are going to say is update to the latest version of software. Well I did it the last update and things got f'ed up basically.

Ps I can't really just update either because I don't have access to a computer really easy. I'm using my girlfriends 3g iPhone to type this...

They're probably going to tell you to update at an Apple store. The 2.1 release supposedly had a lot of bug fixes. With 2.0 and 2.0.1 My 'E' would disappear on occasion, but I never noticed the actual connection being lost. I noticed all the other symptoms before I installed 2.1 and for the most part they are a lot better now (still get a little lag in the phonebook every now and then)

Yeah, I think the Applecare plan covers to 2 years out, insurance is the thing not available for iPhones.

When my EDGE went out they said to reboot and that did fix it.

I haven't been able to access the web through T-Mobile on my unlocked 1.4 iPhone for a while now. They really need to make a hack for 2.1.

That's crazy! I thought anything "Apple" was bulletproof?

I have an original iPhone with the original software unlocked for Tmobile and sometimes i have to reboot my phone because of problems with edge. Some times i can just flip it to airplane mode and then back to normal and that fixes it but if that doesn't work then i just hold down the top and bottom buttons and then power it down and then turn it back on (reboot) and that has always fixed the problem for me.

This is a known problem with 2.0 that was addressed with 2.1. You should definitely update, as 2.0 has a number of issues. There is a way to manually reset the network services from setup, but I can't seem to find it right now...
