You would figure aftetr the "COLE" incident they would have had a bit of target practice, goes to show you how much outr military's hands are tied by all the political bullshit.

I don't know fellas this seems yet another attempt by the current admin to start a war with Iran. Iran is saying it's a fake and unfortunately our our current admin is known for lying to get what they want.

Iran doesn't want a war with us , but most importantly we CAN'T afford a war with Iran. Were so far beyond in debt with the current war it's not funny. We literally have been selling the country off to China and others just to keep military operations going as it is.

A few points:
1.) I hope no one here is Iranian... I know a few Persians/Iranians that left before the Islamic takeover and they are very nice people. Most Iranians except for a few senior government individuals are intelligent, educated, peace loving people who do not want to go to war with the US.

2.) Are you serious? You're trying to suggest the video is fake. The government has already said that incident was "normal" so they did not deny that it happened. Once the video got out providing unequivocal evidence of the obnoxiousness (and I find it.. immature "we will below you out of the water"), they are calling it fake

3.) Whether to go to war or not requires very careful considerations. Obviously the administration made a bad judgment call on the last one, whoops. Consequently, Iran now is a much stronger power force and greater threat now that we kicked Sadam's @$$. It's kind of like taking down one of two bullies on the playground that mainly fight each other, and now the other is able to scare the rest of the little kids.

Nonetheless, history has taught us that every threat should be taken seriously and the right action should be taken to diminish or contain that threat. Good example: Inflammatory speech by Hitler against Jews many years before the holocaust actually happened. The "I will kick your @$$ if you don't shut up" option should always be on the table :) Nonetheless, war should be a very last option; no more cowboy shooting from the hip style here.

I personally think that what is happening is that Iran is taunting the US due to it's "humbling" experience in Iraq, it's military hands tied up, and the presumed international reaction and negative effect on the Muslim world if US did attack Iran. Iran has very much benefited from all of this. However, the fact that (it seems) they have contributed to the death of US troops bugs the crap out of me though and they know that the bar is now much higher to retaliate given the complication now in Iraq.

I'm sorry man ,but I've watched it a couple of times and it sounds like a clip from an old Arnold movie. It maybe genuine ,but damn we just don't have a good record of being to honest.

Humbling experience in Iraq:confused: Hello it took us how long to take out Iraqs army. Hell it was so bad in the beginning the only US soldiers we were losing was from friendly fire! We can beat just about any army ,but you can't beat a country regardless of firepower unless you just nuke the whole thing ,but no one's going to drop a bomb where there's oil.

We hit Iraq with a big stick and it's cost us dearly. Letting inspectors finish their work instead of jumping the guns has cost us is costing us billions. The world is no different w/o Saddam as more people are dying due to the civil war there than if he'd stayed in power.

As far as the two bullies thing goes if we'd left Saddam we wouldn't have to hear all this from Iran. He kept blowing smoke about weapons to keep Iran in check and it worked for years until we stepped in.

Don't forget before we invaded Iraq we had valid proof that Saddam was building a nuclear weapon. So excuse my pessimism.

I'm no history buff  When was this I thought Iran is an Islamic country... since even before their war Iraq

I am surprised that those boats didn't get blown out of the water... But again I'm guessing that the fallout would be that it would put us in a worse position politically with the middle east.....

This reminds me of a thread I read many years ago:

Makes you wonder if Electro was right to begin with? He may not be the best debater, but he did have a point...

If we go to war with Iran thats just opening up a whole new can of worms...  we don't have the money nor the troops to devote to yet another war or to a region we don't belong.

that was the stupidest video i've ever seen.

all i know is it's going to suck when we're not the #1 power anymore (just think.... if anybody did even 10% of the shitty stuff we to do other countries). :frown:

You are correct.

Whether the video is real or not, the only reason why we are on that side of the world is oil. America wouldn't give a sh*t about what was happening over there if their oil supply wasn't at stake. The things happening in Africa don't seem to bother anyone even though it is some of the worst events in history. Most of America's "foreign policy" is a bunch of crap, everything is tied to keeping peoples pockets fat.

Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan.. They are part of the path of an oil pipeline America needs so they can fill up their ships in the Gulf.

BTW, there are some good points in this thread, I'm glad others see what is really going on.

Couldn't agree more. This administration is only concerned with "saving the world" when it comes to countries associated with oil. Saddam killed many Kurds, but is that number even close to the number dying in Darfur?

Noone in their right mind would ever disagree that its about oil. You (or anyone) try to live 1 day without oil at a consistant supply and price and you would be begging the gov't to do something. Well, they are and its not just for the US. This is a tired argument. We are there for oil and trust me, you want it that way. Try to live one day with out it.

That is not the only place to get it, and this isn't the way to get it. This just happens to be the area of the world the US got their hands on. Between, our own reserves(and sources), Canada, South America, Russia, India, and many many other countries with oil, there is NO shortage of oil. That is a myth, and it is proven. It is purely propaganda which our government/media feeds us. So the argument that we NEED the oil from there is tired.

It's not so much the argument whether we can live with or without oil, but rather, how it is politically staged to credit a self-justification in taking over other's oil supplies/or whatever else.
It is wrong, and it is unfortunate when it has been accepted.

On original topic,
The way the video ended was iffy.

if you think the governement is doing this for us? they are doing whatever the hell they want. they are benefitting from this whole thing more than anybody, whether you want to believe it or not. would our governement disillusion us? hell yeah - if you think otherwise, you're ignorant.

tell my why people in our government were FRIENDS of the very people we are supposedly "hunting down" as "evildoers". why don't they LISTEN to ANYTHING that their people say/want???? almost nobody agrees with our dumbass president anymore (it's about time - he's a complete idiot). yet, they continue to dig this country deeper into a hole.

your perspective will change sooner or later. if you think america is going to be "on top" forever - then you know nothing about history. and if you think that people are going to treat us well when we aren't "#1", then you know nothing about history. this administration has dug america in so deep; it's scary to think about the damage they've done. (as if it weren't bad enough already.)

this country is a damn joke. we don't even follow our own foreign policy. we lie and cheat and kill ALL THE TIME. everything we've done since the 60s/70s has taken this country downhill. our forefathers would be utterly ashamed.

furthermore, i can't believe lobbying is just a controversial issue and not illegal. all that is is TAKING BRIBES. how does that represent the PEOPLE?

all i know is that this country was founded on NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. well, i feel completely jipped. i'd leave and start my own country, but i'd probably get shot in the back on the way out. what a piece of shit country. and now corruption is such a big part of our country, there's no changing it. we're screwed, and only time will tell what happens to us. and history tells us it's going to suck.

Wow, you have some major issues. Look, if you don't like it, move to Russia. No one forces you to live here. So quit your bitching or run for office. Heck, take this post and forward it to your congressman. Talking the way you are on these forums makes you sound like you are a loon.

Why should he move? He pays for this government just like you and I do. If he's worked for any amount of time he has quite a bit invested. Besides his Congressman won't read his post until it's election time and then promise to make changes so he can get Synthesis vote. Right now his Congressman is probably looking through his bribes err I mean campaign endorsements and seeing what he needs to do to get more:biggrin:

The real b*tch is we give donations to get someone elected and then pay taxes which is their salary ,but the special interests come through after we've done all this is give them sooo much more money they lose interest in doing anything for us except to get elected again!

F*ck! How do we compete with that w/o pitch forks and torches ... LOL

One of the great things about our country is we're free to criticize it.

As for this news item, I don't automatically believe anything I see on the news any more. In more extreme examples like this I assume there is more to the story that I'm not being told. This time I just shake my head and am glad no one shot at anyone else.

But who is really at fault here? The politician wouldn't be in office if your community didn't vote him/her in. Every 4-6 years you have the power to change who is in office. Screaming bloody murder that Big Brother is out to get everyone and is out to ruin everyone's life isn't going to do jack.
