Iridium Spark Plugs

I've read one test report of Iridium plugs in modified vehicles -- a 95 Skyline GT-R (turbo), an 98 Acura Integra GS-R (w/aftermarket turbo and ignition), and a 99 Civic Si (w/aftermarket turbo). Import Tuner Magazine, Sept. 2000 issue.

The magazine claims small power and torque improvements (except for the Integra) on the order of 2 - 10 HP and/or lb.ft. of torque. Regrettably, their baseline runs were made with conventional nickel electrode plugs.

It appears that the plugs offer some benefit for turbo engines but little, if any improvement, for normally aspirated ones. Thus, it would seem that there is no point in replacing the platinum plugs ahead of their normal service life.

Does anyone have a prediction or actual experience as to the gains, if any, one could expect by replacing the stock platinum plugs with iridium ones?
