I heard that an owner had his NSX being serviced at Los Gatos Acura, 2 of the service people took it for a drive, and wrecked it? Does anyone know if this is true? I take mine there for servicing.

thanks,
Martin

Martin,
I think Los Gatos Acura is on the expensive side. Fairly good service. When are you taking your NSX in? If it is on the weekend, PM me. I'm less than a mile from there.

i worked at my local acura dealer for a little while in the service dept. if your dealer has any clue and some class, i wouldnt worry. all i can say from my experience was there were cars everywhere...and then there was the NSX. we drove and dealt with cars of all types all day long, day in day out, with no bias, new or used, they were treated pretty much the same. driven the same, washed the same etc. etc.

however, if an NSX came in for service, the attitude was as if the "king has returned". only the boss and head mechanics could touch the NSX. not only the car, but also the owners were treated with extra "kiss-ass". exclusivity does have its perks i guess...

This a true story. Several years back when I had my MR2 turbo I was approached from behind by a black NSX which would not let up in trying to get me to race. Being much younger then it did'nt take much to intice me into it. Once we ran a couple of times hard and decided to go back and part ways he did a 180 and we flew back the other way. After stopping and letting our adrenalin settle for a moment and swapping short stories, he proceeds to tell me it was'nt even his car. It was in for some service work. Just some food for thought.

After reading the above linked thread back when it happened, we do not let the dealer take the car off the lot without one of us in it.

Especially after hearing one of the lot boys say, "Man, that thing runs *fast*! I took it for gas the day before you bought it..."

8 years ago I had the tech who was out test riding my '98 CBR900RR lay it down as well after repairs. While I think that one was truly an "oops", better safe than sorry.
