Jerome Zimmerman

Best wishes to Jerry's family & RealTime. I shared a table with him on one of the evenings at NSXPO... many NSXPO attendees at Road America got to spend some time with Jerry, and were appreciative of his time with us at the track.

My prayers go out to his familly and team.I met him numerous times over the years and He will be missed.

I also had the opportunity to to spend, over the past several years, some real quality time with RealTime, PD, and Jerry. Most recently, just a few weeks ago at Road Atlanta. Maria and I were, as usual, guests of RealTime, and PD invited us for lunch, where we sat with Jerry (again). He had just finished rehabilitating Pierre's RSX, which Pierre had spun into the wall in the wet. And, Jerry was smiling, as usual, and upbeat about the teams chances. He also showed me his fully-maxed out Honda RC-51, which he always carried on the team hauler....

I'll miss Jerry, it won't be the same the next time we hang out with RTR...

For those of us who attended 'XPO '01, it was Jerry who thrashed the brand new RSX around the track, passing many of us mere mortals in our NSX's...

Sad, sad, sad.

For many of you who aren't SCCA racers or weren't at NSXPO 2001, you missed the opportunity to meet a great guy.

I was the lucky driver to have Jerome as my instructor at Road America, and let me tell you it was a once in a lifetime experience. When we met, he shook my hand and told me with a big grin on his face, "I like going fast and I don't like getting passed." We weren't passed once.

Take a look at this pic of a warmup lap as he is driving the car from the passenger side - I just love it:

We had a wonderful time together and he made a huge impact on my driving ability. Besides Peter Cunningham, I don't thnk there are many people who know the fast way around Road America like Jerome.

One funny thing that happened was during the 2nd session coming out of 14 and heading up the hill I would pass anybody that was within 20 lengths of me. He asked after the 4th or 5th lap "How the hell are you doing that?" so I pointed at the N2O button under my left thumb. I hadn't used juice during the 1st session and so he thought my car suddenly found all this extra power. The look on his face was priceless. Maybe he should have set up PDs car with a little shot to deal with those pesky Audis!

Meeting the entire RealTime crew, PD, Andrew and especially Jerome was a high point of my trip and is something I'll cherish forever.

Peace bro, see you on the other side.

I just heard this today! That is really a shame. I had a chance to speak to Jerry a number of times about his work on the Realtime NSX. He was always very friendly and informative. He never held back any details about the car, and treated everybody as an equal. Nice guy.

Damn...

I saw this thread and thought it was just a post about some latest accomplishment or someone else had the pleasure of meeting him.

I too talked to him at a past NSXpo and he loaned me some tools and was a generally great guy to talk to even though they were VERY busy preping PDs car for an upcoming race.

God speed - so sad - many many condolences to his famliy / friends
