Just got the issue in the mail. Jon's 3.8 liter NA NSX is entered in this year's 2008 Sport Compact Car Ultmate Street Car Challenge. Contesants include:

R35 GTR
R32 GTR
(2) STIs
Turbo 350Z
Mazda3
Evo X
V-8 E30 BMW
V-8 Quattro

Jon is a LONG time NSX guru and friend. Congrats and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a very good showing!

Regards,

Danny

Just got the issue today. Congrats and go Jon!

If I had a vote, he'd have it. How awesome would it be to have two USCC owners in the NSX community.

Woot.

That's cool, I drove his car a month ago, it was a nice ride.

Good Luck Jon.

i wish john luck. even though i am a NSX owner i'm a huge nissan fan. i will wish the best of luck to both the NSX and the GTR's to win.

Jon calls his NSX "Extreme" for a reason. Wishing him luck!

Sorry for the overexposed photo...didn't have the good camera with me that day.

 Are you sure that his car actually was entered? There was a deadline for entering the cars by and his car did not make the 6pm cut off. Unless they took his car the next day?

Well if this is true then I am really happy for Jon hope his car did well.

They interviewed him for the issue.

Hmmm well I will call Jon up and ask him after he gets back from NSXPO......because I know for a fact his car did not make the deadline to enter and there was suppose to be no exceptions. Another car showed up late by 15mins and the other contestants did not want to let them compete.

Wow just shocked to hear about this.....this is good news to me.....

I had a great big smile on my face when I drove the car with the track tires.

I'm looking at the article right now, pages 44-45, entitled "Balancing Act." The car is black w/ black wheels, ivory interior, red calipers, 3.8L engine.

Hope he does well in the contest though it looks like he's got some stiff competition. I think it'll be difficult for any NA car in this type of contest unless it's a V16.

Eddy,

Now I feel rejected because you turned down MY offer to drive MY car:biggrin:

Too bad to hear about the cut-throat attitude at the USCC if it is true. In my year, the SC'd Elise came at least two hours late. Also, the Crawford STI spent a very long time on the dyno because of fuel pressure problems. Finally, almost everyone offered the crippled HPA Beetle whatever we had to help get it to Rob's (Robispec) shop.

I would love to see Jon's NSX take it all. As for the competition I wouldn't count out the Mazda 3. I have nothing but the very highest respect for Ed and Ron Bergenholtz . Ed is a pro import drag racer with Mazda's support and Ron is a legend in import car shows. The Mazda 3 may appear a puzzling start point, but I like it's chances wth Ed and Ron against the Skyline and the AMS Evo X. Should be vey interesting....

Best Regards,

Danny

From what I understand this time is that they are keeping it more a true street car class than when you had it Danny.:biggrin:

By the way Danny I was too scared to drive your car man.......riding in it was a pleasure already. Your car is an airplane that flys on the ground.......=P

I heard the competition is based on just like yours on different categories. So if Jon is consistent on the points then I think he should do ok.

This year the competition was whining about letting people join in late. I was thinking whoever won this year without letting everyone compete should have an asterisk next to their win. Letting everyone know that they were too chicken to let everyone compete.

I am hoping that he can place at least top 3, but who knows. I need to go get this magazine now.....

I texted Jon about the competition, but I have not heard back from him.

Hopefully it did well and I hope they made a DVD on it......they should start doing DVD's on these type of competitions. I'd for sure buy one......

The magazine is already out??? Time to make a trip to Barns & Noble.

His car could have been interviewed and in the first issue of the two-part USCC coverage but unfortunately there wasn't an NSX in the performance competition of this years USCC. NSX may have been one of the cars that didn't make the time cut-off :frown:.

Good to see another NSX in the USCC. Who owns the R32?

Ok just got it confirmed as I stated earlier.....Jon's car did not compete since he did not make the cut off time. They just interviewed him for an article. Theres always next year.

I know, I am sure his car would have done pretty well.

drats so he didn't make it? they should really make a note that the nsx would not be competing. i'm kinda bummed now, i was really looking forward to next months issue =(

Yup I am still going to get the issue and check it out.

Next year I hope they will want his car again.
