Sorry, I misunderstood. I was thinking it was similar to the RS6 Avant that I would like to import, but cannot (irrespective of paying duty). You just need to pay the duty on this car which you wouldn't in another couple of years. Still need to pay GST regardless.
You still have to pay the duty no matter what the age. I had to pay it on my '68 Triumph in 2001 and on my '95 NSX in 2010 (it was over 15 yrs old as it was built in Feb and I brought in to Canada in August).
The only real gain in having a 15 year old vehicle as I remember it is no worries about recalls/campaigns, and no Canadian safety at the dreaded Canadian Tire. There was a campaign in the US for an OBD II checkover to be performed at a certain mileage. My car had low miles and never had the check done as it had not reached the designated threshold. It still showed as having a recall/campaign outstanding by Honda US. The dealer would not complete the campaign as it was only good for a certain number of years and had expired. Honda US would not expunge the record of the outstanding campaign due to their hard nosed stance on vehicle exporting, yes even on a 15 year old vehicle. If the car was under 15 years old I could not have imported it due to RIV rules regarding the outstanding campaign, catch 22. As it was over 15 years old by a few months I did not have to submit proof of no outstanding recalls/campaigns and was able to import with no problems.

I don't know his username but he is a member on here. His car is listed in the for sale section because I looked at it a couple of weeks ago. Nice car.
