K-40

Hello,

I have a K-40 Sonaradar installed in my car, serial # 0542670. I have no documentation whatsoever on this radar detector, it just came with the car. The customer service for K-40 won't return my e-mail. Sometimes it will 'chirp' every 8 seconds, sometimes it does not chirp. Occasionally it gives an alert.

Anyone know anything about this unit? Any/all information would be heplful.

Not sure what model my k40 is, but it has 2 mounts under the front bumper and 1 mount in the back.

When it beeps every 5 or 10 seconds, it means that one of the sensors isn't connected. If it doesn't always happen, then it is probably plugged in, but from time to time the plug stops making proper contacts. One of my sensors started acting funny, so I zip tied it around the back edge of the plug then around the unit. After zipping it real tight, I never had the problem again.

It single beeps for one of the sensors, and double beeps for the other sensor. If you cant figure out which it is, unplug both then plug one in at a time. Listen for the beeps every so often. This should determine which one you're having problems with.

hope this helps. I never read anything that precisely diagnosed what this was. Over time, I realized I was never being notified of rear radar. I first started my trouble shooting by parking faced in then backed in, out front of my local grocery store doors. :biggrin:
