Ksport and WP pro versus Stoptech and Brembo

My cousin has a 2002 W208 body CLK55. He has retired this car from track duty and bought a dedicated miata. He got a hold of some 18" AMG wheels off an E63. His. Brakes are old, original calipers with 165K miles and they have a lot of rust. Looks terrible with the new wheels. So he wanted to upgrade, and all that is available through brembo and Stoptech are front kits. Both Ksport and WP Pro make 4 wheel kits. This car will probably not see much more track duty, because he has the miata. Maybe a day or two per year.

So the question is... How bad is the Ksport? It's significantly less money than the Stoptech and brembo. I'm getting prices on the WP Pro tomorrow. That's another option which I think is definitely more money than the Ksport. Is it a lot better? Anyone have personal experience with these? I know hijacker tracked with the WP and said they were good.

Any thoughts?

I bought Wp but haven't put them on. Opened the box though and everything looks nice.

Can't comment on driving them yet though. But you need Wp brake pads, sourcing them isn't an issue but some bbk's don't use their brand specific sometimes.

Aren't all stoptechs forged? I believe the ST40 is in fact forged. Not just the trophy.

Yes ST40 is the standard NSX kit, and trophy is the lightened version. I just checked ST's website and the ST40 caliper is indeed forged.

Oh ok. Then what separates the trophy than the regular st40?

Oh, but to get back on topic... There's some nsx owners that have Ksport and one that I know that's happy with his. I think he's switching out though soon though because he only has the front and wants 4 corners. He doesn't track his car though either.

I got my wp because of the price/looks. I know stoptechs have a better bias but I'm not to concerned about that at this point. I think your friend though needs to pick a budget, then pick a kit, then cross shop. But I'd probably get the k sport, haha.

Yeah the st40 caliper is 7 pounds and the trophy is like 5.6. There's not that much other difference.

I guess no one really knows the other brands.

I would say that if one is going to depend on a system for day to day use and exposure to the elements then the brembo or stoptech is the way to go.

For a show car then the WP or Ksport might be fine.

Im in the same boat, debating WP vs Ksport..im just not paying 5-6k for brakes on a 30k car.
I found some Ksport for dirt cheap, waiting on quote for the WP's today
I dont track, maybe drive car 3-4 times a month

WP Pro kit F+R+EB came in at 5k... I was expecting lower price tag, for 5k+ I would go with proven name like brembo or stoptech, so looks like Ksports for me
