Figure I'll start this in an attempt to chronicle the build of this project. The car was perfect before I got it and has never been in an accident it just didn't stand out enough so it was upgrade time.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The car was owned by a close friend for the last 10 or so years and while it has been painted before this time we did it right. We broke it down completely, painted it, and are reassembling it now. It was originally black, then he painted it yellow followed by white. The white was just a little too conservative, it looked great just a little tame so on came the Lambo orange. So far I absolutely love it, there's more pearl in it than anything I've seen before. I can't wait to get it done and out in the sun.

Here are a couple iphone snapshots to see the progress

Next thing I have to decide is what to do with the wheels. Here are the options as I see it;

1. Leave then alone
2. Paint them all black
3. Paint them all Orange
4. Paint the lips orange and leave the webs black
5. Paint the lips orange and re-polish the webs
6. Re-polish the entire wheel

I’m leaning towards either 4,5,or 6. What do you all think? I’ll try to get a better side profile shot the next time I go over to work on it to make it easier to photochop. BTW the wheels are 18/19 HRE's.

The next to come will be headers and exhaust as well as a complete redo of the sound system. More details to come.

looks great,

but... dont get a dent or scratch as you will never Match that pearl flake paint again.

so far its was originally

black,

then yellow,

then white,

now orange

I wonder how Thick the paint is ?

not bashing in anyway.

I love orange nsx's. If you search you'll find a few threads started by me on the subject. I love the fact that the NSX's heritage with McLaren F1 gives it a tie-in with the McLaren orange.

Here's my favourite:

NICE COLOR!! Definitely my favorite....
In regards to the rims, keep them black...

Thanks for all the kind words, we just can't get the thing done fast enough. We're just really trying to take our time so that everything gets done right, not just done.

Looks like everyone likes the wheels black, the only thing that got me about the way they are is they seemed to lose some of the size with just the web's painted black which is the reason I was thinking of changing them, I think I'll have to try doing one all satin black and see how it comes out.

As for the paint thickness, it's not an issue, when we decided to go with the orange we took every panel that got paint back to factory primer or bare aluminum. Any panel that went to metal was epoxy primed prior to any other paint. So this should be a little thicker than factory but only because of the ammount of clear used :)

As for matching it, that actually won't be a problem. Yes there is a ton of pearl etc in it but since it isn't a three stage etc paint it absolutely could be touched up. My Harley is all Kandy (frame and all) and while I love the color / depth it would be impossible to match. It doesn't get ridden that much and if it did need to get touched up I'd just use that as an excuse to completely redo it again. Since the plan is to drive the NSX I specifically didn't go with anything that couldn't be matchd and blended if necessary.

We should have the bumpers, skirts, spat's, and rear wing painted this weekend. Then it'll really start looking like a car again.

More pic's soon.

Time for a couple more updated pics.

Here you can see the nose coming back together, still need to get everything lined up and a set of front lip protectors made and mounted. I'm just glad to see it start looking like a car again.

The wheels are off and getting done in all satin black with just the bolts remaining in polished SS. Should look good but if I don't like it I'll just send them back to HRE and have them refinished.

This is a shot of the rear diffuser. We did the center section in satin black, the rear spats are done in the orange and should nicely frame the black center.

Now for another question and I know it's a personal one but what exhaust do I go with. I think I've narrowed it down to the RM / B&B DTM or the Pride V2 with quad tips. It'll be driven so I don't want to have to shout in the car but it won't be a daily driver so a little noise isn't a bad thing. Really just looking for the best sound outside the car. Both seem to be about the same money so which do I get???????????

I love an Orange NSX too, I always wanted an Imola one. Something about an NA1 in orange with the flip up lights looks hot! Especially with a black roof
