Hey guys. I have been driving my NSX a lot with no problems but this week it seems to crank/turn longer before it starts and at one point it sounding like it did not want to start but did. My friend said to keep in mind that my car has spent most of its live in a garage and now I am driving it every other day. Should I be worried?

make sure your battery is charged

if the battery is weak and the engine is turning over slowly, it does take longer to get the car started.

I have also read that it helps to turn the key on and wait a few seconds before starting to allow the fuel system to pressurize.

I do this and it does help greatly. Turn it to the II position and listen until you rear the noise behind you stop (sounds like a pump) and then fire it up.

Before i started doing this my car would start right up maybe 1 out of every 5 tries. Using this method it fires right up 9 out of 10 times.

Well as much as I drive the car the battery should not have a problem. I'll try that trick out if it helps. The car only has 21000 miles now so it not like any of the parts have ware but I probably put more miles on it in 4 months then it received in the last 5 years.

Mine use to do that. If the stereo was on it would take a while so i turned it off the night b4 and it started right up. This was only when i first got the car.... I just think previous owners didnt drive it enough cause now that ive had it it is fine. But as for the fuel pump preasure thing, if you close doors and turn the key they lock in a few sec after you turn then i start the car. I never understood why ppls just turn and go???

How old is your battery - better get it checked.

Check your battery connections. Do you have factory connectors still? Or do you have one of those universal clamps on it? If you do, then it sounds like the corrosion INSIDE the cable is getting worse and worse.

My car takes 2-3 seconds of cranking to start about once every 25 starts or so. But it does start every time.
