Looking to buy a new NSX Have questions

If I were to ever get another NC1, which is highly doubtful, the only CF options I would get would be the CCB and rear spoiler. All the other CF really doesn't give any advantage in looks or performance. One person down here actually did a CF wrap on his roof and it looked pretty good. The CF interior really isn't that spectacular, and my instrument cluster CF binnacle squeaked a lot.

Oh my God, you actually suggested that Hell will not have to freeze over before you perhaps consider owning another NC1. Wow, shit can happen. DocL I am inspired by your new outlook.

I've decided to tone down my rhetoric a little. It's been almost two years of blissful harmony without an Acura in my garage. I do like the new TLX, but without a manual as an option I don't see myself getting back into an AHM product.

Would like to get the ceramic brakes but so many reviews have the ceramic need to warm up before having any more braking ability more than the iron brakes so is that true? If Acura would have split up the Carbon accessories I would have ponied up to get some but one you ad one you have to ad another.
So my 2 choices that i have come up with are the Red w/red interior or the long beach blue w/blue interior-rear carbon spoiler and will also upgrade the wheels but uncertain which ones to get-any ideas?

Looking to put the deposit down some time next week so keep up those ideas and thanks again!

Yep, around 7min mark of this review seems to confirm what you said. His final remark at 9min mark about refresh rumors.

I am getting Painted Interwoven with Silver - no reason other than looks "sportier" to me. Y's are obviously less expensive and slightly lighter and looks better on brighter color cars at least to me.

Just a heads up, I was told that the order books are closed for 2021.

Hey keep in mind this is a super car not your Father's Oldsmobile. So get the Ceramic Brakes as they are extraordinary. I find they brake as good as I recall any brakes working. I imagine that if you are tracking your car then they will need to warm up to give you maximum braking capability. But again if you are on the track, warming your brakes will automatically occur. My sense is that these brakes will last the life time of the car, unless you are tracking your car every week. And if you are doing that then tires, wheels, and other things will certainly cost you money. Mario C. has tracked his car regularly and started with Carbon Ceramic brakes. It would be helpful to hear from him. There is another fellow our of Arizona who also tracks his cars regulary.

I think the car looks awesome in any color. I’m personally biased toward the thermal Orange and indigo interior.

I wish the CF options were a la carte. Sadly not and a big miss by Acura to not allow customizations here.

As for the brakes I got the iron rotors as I don’t plan to track the car and the iron rotors do just fine. Aside from being more costly I would have liked the Orange calipers but do enjoy the red with Orange and Y spoke rim.

A month in and I finally broke 100 miles woohooo! A blast to drive every time I take it for a spin. Also get a ton of thumbs ups or stares. While grabbing coffee this morning had a gt2 pull up next to me and chat saying he loved the NSX. Not that you needed confirmation but definitely a head turner.

The infotainment system is trash but that’s not why we buy the car. Apple play works well and all you really need.

Lastly used the cup holders for the first time and they are not at all intrusive to the passenger.

Yep you might be right as called the dealer I have been working with and got blown off and then no call and they closed so I may have to wait this out. If the money rebates are gone even though I like the looks I will have to look else where, hard to think with such low production that they would cu t the 2021 model year so early. This does suck finally ready to order and then nothing.

is it worth the wait or Will they discount the 2022 model year and will that year look the same inside and out?

Thanks again
Mark

One last thing there are very few salesman/dealers that actually know anything about the NSX and how to order and what discounts there are out of a dozen I found 1.

I wouldn't give up quit yet - there may be cancellations or perhaps you can take over an existing dealer order/allocation and change to your spec?

Only if I knew answer to your other question about 2022 changes and discount... if 2022 refresh is significant (noticeable changes other than color), I think it will be worth the wait as you are getting the latest, even if you don't get the rebate. Who knows, may be rebates will re-appear Q1 2022.

Did they even offer you the $20K rebate before they blew you off?

Honda sells a lot of other cars and probably not worthwhile for them to keep the NSX in production with all the associated costs. It is just disastrous to just sell a few cars a month from a business standpoint.

less than 2 weeks ago I got the discounts and kept in contact with the salesman but Saturday I asked about the down payment and was told he was very busy so I called a couple of times and was told he would call me back but no call.

If it was as bad as you make it, there would not have been a 2021 model.

There are only a handful of dealers that sell NSXs somewhat regularly, so its low priority for most.

With the constant turnover in this industry, most of the original NSX specialists that attended the training in Ohio are gone.

My guess is they will not offer the $20k on the 2022. I'm hoping that they make significant revisions that make it worthy of MSRP (in the eyes of the general public).

Hey Mark, once ordering is open again you might be able to structure the deal with a contingency on trunk money being available, prices not changing and refundable deposit until order confirm.

Last year, I placed my order around Oct./Nov. and this allowed me the option to pull back until order confirm in Jan. 2021 and then until the trunk money was confirmed in Mar. 2020 with no liability. My dealer was willing to honor the price We negotiated with the truck money, if they didn’t offer it.

We were fairly certain that the 20k would be available on the 2021 as no changes other than LBB were offered, so it was a safe bet. 2022 i wouldn't bet on.

it can't be good news for the fate of the NSX when they stopped taking order in May for the 2021 model year. Honda is probably losing a lot of money on the NSX and not sure if they will pour more money in any significant upgrades such as the interior.

I hope they will and still offer the rebate.

id rather have a better car than 20k off, but that's just me (assuming its not ugly. )

I believe they are preparing for the refreshed 2022. My guess is announcement should be coming in August during Monterey Car Week assuming we dont have another covid shut down.

I think you are right on.

Honda sells about the same annual number of NC1s as they did NA2s and they have the same attitude about it: we're just gonna keep making these as a halo product and for the owners who "get it." They would have happily kept making the NA2 (likely refreshed as a NA3) but for the major DOT crash standard changes in 2005 that would have necessitated a major structural redesign of the car. The R&D money is already sunk on the NC1- it doesn't cost them much more proportionally to keep producing it (if anything, more cars dilutes the per-unit cost much like fighter jet production), so I imagine we'll see many more years of the NC model as a low-production unit. This car will die much like the NA2 did- when the regulations change. But, this time it will be things like mandatory semi/self-driving and full electrification that will force Honda's hand (it already has in Japan). At that point, they will either pull the plug or design a third generation of the NSX to meet the new standards. That is a major budget decision versus a minor one for a model refresh like the 2022.

Honestly, Acura service is so poor that if I was buying a new one, I'd just order it from powdbyrice and I would advise any prospective member on Prime to do so rather than trusting the kid who just came over from the Chevy dealer two weeks ago and thinks the NSX is the old version (if he even knows what it is). I remember trying to call to set up some service for my 91 and the Acura service rep was like "a what?" when I said it was for a NSX... :frown::frown:

yep it is confusing for buyers.I think Acura needs to form a network of dealers to at least subspecialize in the NC1 based on current sales....My local dealer has 1 tech who went to the training In Ohio and I trust him ,they have sold aprox 5 I know of since 17..The average wealthy buyer who doesn't research, or performs due diligence, thinks its just another Acura, is misinformed..

Well the dealer called back and was told I could still order one and the time frame on receiving one was late July so it looks like I will be ordering one of these on Weds. The harder part now is I have a week to come up with the final color and options list.

Yea that seems about right.

As Honcho noted contact , as he seems to have knowledge of the car and his pricing is fair. Not sure where you are located?

i'm not new to forums just nsx, but i think since i'm a new member i don't have the ability to contact powdrice, i searched the member listing but couldnt' find his name. is it by chance @powdbyrice? either way how many posts do i need to be able to start a conversation. otherwise maybe he can message me about a possible order? i'm in the midatlantic region. but am willing to travel if necessary.
