Magnets from hell ... and they're cheap!

I ran across an article about these in this month's Wired magazine, so I checked out their website. My god.... I had no idea there were magnets like this that were available to the public, and so inexpensively!!! Check out these warnings:

Beware - you must think ahead when moving these magnets.

If carrying one into another room, carefully plan the route you will be taking. Sensitive instruments like computers & monitors will be affected in an entire room. Loose metallic objects and other magnets may become airborne and fly considerable distances - and at great speed - to attach themselves to this magnet.

If you get caught in between the two, you can be severely injured.
These magnets will crush bones in the blink of an eye.
Two of these magnets close together can create an almost unbelievable magnetic field that can be incredibly dangerous.

Of all the unique items we offer for sale, we consider these items the most dangerous of all. Our normal packing & shipping personnel refuse to package these magnets - our engineers have to do it. This is no joke or exaggeration - and we cannot stress it strongly enough. You must be extremely careful - and know what you're doing with these magnets.

Two Supermagnets can very easily get out of control, crush fingers and instantly break ribs or even your arm if opposing poles fly at each other.
A small child recently lost his hand when his father left two # 31 supermagnets unattended. The child picked one up and when he approached the other magnet on a nearby table, it became airborne and obliterated his small hand.

They sell uranium ore too. $17!

Nuclear Isotopes
Safety Sealed, Radioactive Sources

.
If you're looking for a clean, accurate, radiation sources, here they are...

No NRC license required!
All our radioactive isotopes are legal to purchase & own by the general public.
They require no special licensing, handling, storage or disposal.

To ensure the longest half-life possible, we do NOT keep isotopes in stock.
All isotopes are fabricated to order and shipped directly to you from the
NRC licensed nuclear isotope manufacturer in Oak Ridge, TN.

Individual Isotope Disk Sources
Radioactive material is sealed in the plastic/epoxy to prevent leakage and contamination.
These sealed plastic disks measure 1" in diameter and just under 1/8" thick.

All Isotopes are sold by the microcurie (uCi)
( 1 microcurie = 2.22 x 10E6 disintegrations / minute = 2,220,000 cpm )

"...ideal for begining collector..." Great. Now I have a new hobby.

Great! Now anyone can have the bomb!
And as for the magnets, I thought rare earth magnets were strong, but geeze. The rings have a certain appeal but you’d have to be careful not to destroy your credit cards while reaching for your wallet, accidentally slugging people with braces, or becoming stuck to people with miscellaneous piercings.
Do you carry anything that doesn't kill indiscriminately?

You get a couple magnets (not crush-your-hand strong, but strong) for free (well, you've already paid for them ) whenever a hard disk drive fails. I have a bunch of them on my refrigerator.

LOL, one has 800lbs of pull force. That would be fun to have.

It's only $275... let us know how it goes :).

The included picture (two 400# magnets) has them with like 8 zillion paperclips stuck to it. They apparently sell 2000# magnets, but they refused to send those for evaluation :).

Found it online

I ordered 4 of them and I can't get them out of my mailbox... what a waste of money.

OH MY GAWD!!!! That is soooo funny.:biggrin::biggrin:

Thank you.

A couple of the small ones would be great for holding the front license plate on.

My roofing crew has a really big magnet mounted on two wheels with a handle. They can push it around a job site and it picks up all the nails on the ground. It works excellent for this. But these magnets you posted they could clean up the site from the truck parked on the street. Imagine the nails flying at them LOL!!!

2 magnets are more fun than 1. Just watch out you don’t pinch Mr. Winkie when you’re putting them together.
