I brought my TSX in today today for an oil change at White Bear Acura in Minnesota. I got some quotes for upcoming work to be done on my NSX. I keep my NSX 200 miles north of the nearest Acura dealer. I am planning on bringing my car down this fall to have some mainenance done to it.

Here's what I had them give me quotes for:

1) Transmission flush. $78.11
2) Oil pan gasket change. $284.16
3) Coolant flush. $100.78
4) Water pump/Timing belt. $1513.97
5) Brake fluid flush. $103.55

Grand Total........$2080.55

Thought this was reasonable. Anything else I should have done? Car is only coming down one time.

1991 NSX 25,700 miles on the car.

Any advice would be grand!

You may want to ask the mechanic that will be working on the NSX what he would recommend.

Look at your vtec gaskets(spool valve) and see if they are leaking.
I'd probably do valve cover gaskets.
Rear main gasket.
***Swap horrible power robbing exhaust manifolds out to NA2 manifolds. Pick up about 10-15hp.***Cheep to find on prime.
I think they actually have to remove one to drop the pan.

Absolutely make sure they get the timing belt 100% correct. Seems there have been a few members who took their cars in for tb/wp and the belt was off a tooth.

I recommend replacing the cooling system hoses - preferably all (23?) of them if they've never been changed. It's good preventive maintenance, and you really don't want to be counting on 21-year-old hoses not to fail.

You might also want to consider replacing the crankshaft pulley, which can come apart and destroy your engine.

Agreed, and I'd highly recommend getting TitaniumDave's crankshaft pulley shield installed as well for extra insurance. Here's everything (minus the crankshaft pulley and shield, which I had done in a subsequent visit) that I had done recently on my 97 with 38k miles:

Thanks for all the input. Just want to bring the car down once. I will check on everything suggested here. I will get a quote from Buerkle Acura as well. Any mechanic specifically to ask for there?

There are 3 Acura dealers in the metro, Buerkle, White Bear Acura, and Bloomington Acura. Personally, I like White Bear the best.

I know the previous owner of my car had work done at Buerkle, no complaints from me. I might even have the receipts somewhere and could provide their pricing, although its probably outdated now.

+1 on doing the crank pulley while they're in there, and +1 on the pan gasket being high.
Also, when was the last time the valves were adjusted?

I just had PPA complete the Major service on my '05. This included:

TB, WP, Cam Seals, Brake Fluid flush (Motol), Spark Plugs, Valve Adjustment, Coolant Flush. Cost: $2,272

I do not know how this compares to others but this was the best rate I could find in CO which included the Plugs, Cam seals and valve adjustment.

had you also considered doing the cam seals and / or valve adjustment ?

You should take a look at the maintenance schedule, and do anything in it that hasn't already been done in the specified interval. That includes the valve adjustment.

Incidentally, ...

The coolant flush is normally done as part of the water pump replacement, so if they're replacing the water pump (#4), you shouldn't need to also pay for a coolant flush (#3).

Nice catch, somthing did look off on that line u.

+1 on the main pulley.
Does can fail due to age.
