McDork’s 1998 Coupe JH4NA2131WT000070 listed as “Zanardi Prototype” in the wiki

Chris, glad you were able to take the car out to NSXPO and enjoy it on the track! It's looking great as always. Hope all is well.

Thanks Akbar it was certainly a blast. The track portion of nsxpo was addicting and incredibly well done. The bad part is I think I may be hooked. I'm looking for either a scruffy c5 or c6 vette or borrow my old old man's 91 (shhhhh!) for more track days.
Honestly, I'd prefer I don't have to clean this car bottom to top again. See ya when I make it out that way.

Updates?

Hi Chris, any new developments in the past while? I’m sure you have to have few new pics of you’re cars to show for us to feast our eyes on.

Wow what an incredible restoration on this car. Your work is just amazing.

I see that you had to convert it back to flip up lights. So is it my understanding the general shape of the tub for the headlights is the same for both the flip up and the solid sealed units except for the cut out you had repaired? Only reason I ask is I have considered converting mine to flip up. I know I know crazy. Just was wondering though about the logistics of that.

Hi Joe,
Sorry I missed this. No updates to report. Last summer I was so busy with house projects I only took it out a handful of times. Hopefully, I'll have more time this summer.

cccoltsicehockey,
Your car looks incredible. Theoretically, I think the hardest part of converting a fixed light car to pop-ups would be the wiring. I know there's an extra relay, the button on the cluster surround, and who knows what else. However, I do believe the bucket itself is almost identical. Additionally, the bumper and hood are different. Seems like a lot of work to add weight and probably make your car less valuable. However, when I was younger lessening value wasn't a deterrent. If I had your car I'd have a fixed top welded on it and lighten it up as much as possible.

Out of hibernation for a few good runs and new fluids. Sadly, I can count on one hand the number of times I've had it out in the last 3 years. Took these pics today and they might be the best I've ever taken, with an iphone no less. smh Figured I'd share.

This car looks so great with the black roof!

Thanks I too am a fan of the black roof. They were so dated about 15 years ago, but now they look great again. Could it be there are only 7 of the 90's Camaros still in existence?

I feel the same way about the pop-ups. When I got my first NSX, I was sure that I would do the 02+ front end conversion because the pop-ups were SO 90's. LOL. Now I love them and so do my kids. They make me push the button just to see the lights come up- they're fascinated that a car can do this, since all the cars they've ever known have fixed lights. I am sure this is because I am getting old and nostalgic.

Btw, your pics are not showing.

yep..ditto... but a good place to list...let us know how it ends up.

Aw man sorry to see it go- this car is a legend of NSX Prime. GLWS though. You'll be back. ;)

You're partially to blame. :) I love this car, but I most enjoyed trying to learn its history and the project. I'll be posting my want to buy add shortly.
I'd really like to find another unique NSX that needs everything.

LOL if there is one person who can do it, it's you. This car was the inspiration for my project, actually. I re-read the thread last night to get motivated to finish mine.

I agree the back story is a strong motivator. For me, it was creating a US version of those special JDM models I saw all the time on PlayStation and Best Motoring.

Might be cool to take an old coupe and make a legit LHD pop-up NSX-R...like to our level of accuracy. ;)

I'll always remember eating dinner with that car...

Thanks Sir! Depending what might find me will shape the vision.

Just wanted to say on behalf of all of us who don't necessarily post frequently....Thank you very much for keeping prime alive. I still visit everyday just like I have for many many years. It's a very selfless think to do and is appreciated.
