Well I think I've scraped my original wheel plan. I won't bore you with the details other than painting them to what I wanted was almost as much as just purchasing the wheels.

I've certainly noticed a "passion" when asking questions about wheels. And I'm pretty sure the ones I'm currently looking at are probably going to be controversial. That being said, I would like to have a better understanding of the "going opinions" on wheel style ... even if I'm not one usually into following the crowd.

So first question is, will this wheel fit? Possibly looking at 18x8 front and back using narrow tire in front and wider in rear. Mostly, I'm just curious about the fit. I could possibly use 20x8.5's in the rear, but I highly doubt it.

Second, why should or shouldn't I? I'll include a PS with this as well to assist in the assessment.

Thanks in Advance

Alot of people don't like the weight of a 20 inch wheel as you are about to find out.I personally will sacrifice a bit of performance for the look, after all I can only do the speed limit.I do not track my car nor plan to.I just like the look of big wheels rollin' down the road.

See this thread for an 20/18 combo. I think the 20s look great in the back, just the right size IMO.

You'll have to make sure the wheels can clear the caliper brackets. Don't worry about the wheels being controversial, they aren't cool unless you stir some up. If you want to blend in, just get some Volks. :)

I wouldn't go any bigger than 19 if I were you. I find that the 20's "jack up" the back too much in relation to an 18" front wheel. I have an 18/19 combo with a 225/35/18 (18x8) tire in the front and a 275/30/19 (19x9.5) tire in the back and the rears look really aggressive. You're going to need to lower the car as well because with your current setup your going to look an SUV with bigger rims and that wheel gap.

Well ... at least one place today told me that the wheels above have been discontinued. Again!

One place claimed they coudl still get them but I wouldn't want them. They told me I couldn't get 20's on the rear. I asked why. Basically they said there wasn't any physical reason, it's just that the tires I would be using would not match the stagger. Then I said I could put 18's all around using two different tire sizes. Again, they said it wouldn't look good as I would not have the appropriate stagger.

Come on. What am I missing. My stock tires have a 1.2" height difference front to back and 1.5" difference in width. I'm not knocking the design but how it the a major stagger? Besides, the options I'm working though are very close to the same dimensions. I don't get it.

Stock - stagger of 1.5" width & 1.2" height
18 all around - stagger of 1.2" width & .8" height
18 & 20 - stagger of .4" width & 1.4" height

I you didn't know the specifics and saw the cars side by side given the small differences could you even tell a difference?

Comments welcome as I weigh on moving forward without their recomendation.

Thanks Tom. I appreciate the advice on rear width. But I'm pretty comfortable with the stock appearance. So a super wide rear wouldn't be my first choice. So even with the 8.5 rear, the 245 width would be OK.
