The power ball is for wheels and such, I would never use it on the paint. 
They have come out with a new version now. It is made for paint. I have not used it yet. Ron
Even the one made for paint is just a little ball, I wouldnt' waste my time with it. Just get a Porter Cable or do it by hand.
