Well a nice sunny day today went out to clean the car and thought I had a couple bottles of Zaino gloss enhancer left but no dice all out. So off to the Auto Store to grab whatever I could find I thought I tried all the Detailer Sprays and found three I never tried Mothers,The Wax Shop and Zymol all quick Detailer Srays. Not sure which one to buy I just bought the Mothers Spray and off I went I all I can say is this stuff works great if not as good as Zaino having a Black car it looks super wet and glossy.

Has anyone else had good luck with this stuff or any scientists out there know whats in it good or bad? Also has anyone used The Wax Shop or Zymol quick Detailer and what are your opinions on it. I was totally sold on Zaino but in my opinion the Mothers works just as good and a couple bucks cheaper no to mention saving on shipping costs.

I'm not sure which Zymol product you are referring to; is this one of the Zymol-labeled products made in Chicago by Turtle Wax? The Zymol detailer I have used is Zymol Field Glaze:

This product contains 21 percent carnauba, so it's almost like a car wash/wax product. I would be somewhat surprised if you can find Zymol Field Glaze in your local auto parts store alongside Mothers products, which is why I suspect you're talking about something else.

However, usually, when I need a quick detailer, I'm just looking to clean a specific spot, such as for bird droppings. I find that I prefer Meguiars Quik Detailer for this purpose, and have been very pleased with the results I have gotten with it:

I have been told by Meguiars personnel that their Final Inspection product (number 34), in their Professional line, is very similar to the Quik Detailer, which is in their consumer line.

I have not tried the other two products you mentioned (the ones from Mothers or The Wax Shop).

Ken the Zymol is in a Blue Bottle and called Detail it says to just spray on let set for a few seconds and wipe I also saw it the other day of all places at Target.

Funny that you should ask this. A few weeks ago I took my car in for some major work. When I got it back the vinyl body protector that was used on the NSX must have had some debris on it. The paint looked a little scuffed. I ran out of Zaino Gloss Enhancer and used some Meguiar's Quik Detailer I had sitting around. It really didn't shine the car up much. I retrieved the last few drops out of my spent Zaino Gloss bottle and the car shined up much more than with the Meguiar's. After doing this, I had wondered if the Zaino chemistry was different since the other products are wax and Zaino is a polymer. More questions than answers.

Ken, how often do you wax your car? Does using the Quik Detailer prolong or shorten the waxing interval in any way? Thanks.

hotrod I had wondered if the Zaino chemistry was different since the other products are wax and Zaino is a polymer.
I don't think Meguiars Quik Detailer contains any wax. And I don't know what's in this particular Zaino product. The purpose of a quick detailer product is to clean the car said:

The NSX, no more than once a year. But keep in mind that it only leaves the garage roughly half a dozen times a year, so it doesn't get a lot of exposure to the elements.

My ITR daily driver, twice a year, spring and fall.

Not that I have noticed. But keep in mind that I use it primarily for "spot" cleaning, rather than going over the entire car with it. (If the entire car needs washing, I wash it.)

Ok, thanks. I was just wondering because I used the Meguiar's Quik Detailer to clean off the front of my car from all the bugs from the drive yesterday. I had just waxed my car last Wednesday, so I wasn't sure if I needed to wash and wax again, or if the Quik Detailer is sufficient.

Also, I reapplied some wax to the areas where I used the Quik Detailer. Is that a problem?

Phoenix,
Actually reapplying wax just where you used a detailer to remove bugs is a good thing. I've found that the quick spray detailers are typically a stronger soap solution than what I use to wash the entire car. So even though the detailer may say it doesn't strip wax, just like washing your car, it can and probably does remove some wax.

That said, what I usually do when washing my entire car is first, spray detailer on all the bugs on the front and on the sides & rear where road grime, brake dust, melted rubber that stuck to my car after flying off the tire (the only explanation I have for some black kinda gooey stuff I get on my doors). Let soak for a couple of minutes. Then hose off the entire car. This removes most of the bug guts, especially the crusty hard pieces, and other crap before I commence with washing with bucket & cloth & soapy water.

Good to know, nsx4fun. Thanks for the info. I've been using an industrial strength Turtle Wax bug & tar remover (which I also spot wax afterwards).

Bug and tar remover products (which consist of a solvent) will strip any wax from your car, so you will definitely need to wax over anywhere you use them.

I've been using the Meguiars Quick Detail and like it for what is does. I just picked up the newer Meguiars Quick Detailer (Also in a red spray bottle) that included carnuba wax and so far I really like this one much better than the original Quick detailer since it actually adds wax and a noticeable shine.

ChrisK, please correct me if I'm wrong. I just picked up a bottle of Quick Detailer from the store, and it didn't say anything about containing wax. I believe you're referring to the Meguiars Quik Wax:

This product falls under the "protection" category rather than "maintenance", and the description (from what I remember) didn't specifically say anything about removing contaminants so I stayed with the Quik Detailer:

However, if the Quik Wax works well for you for both applications, then that's great!

Yes, this is it. I actually used both. You're right about the Quick wax one not really being a cleaner and it does state to apply on a clean washed car. I've mainly used the original Quick Detailer right after I wash and dry the car to remove any streaks left behind while drying. I just started using the Quick Wax and like it so far. I've only used it about 3 times though. My reference is on a White car, but it does appear to make the black top a nice deep shine. As good as any car wax I've used thus far. I think I'll end up using both and keep the Quick Detailer in the car.

PHOEN$X have you tried Mothers Showtime Instant Detailer yet? I think you might like it better than Meguiar's with Meguiar's it seems to smear on my Black Car IMO Mothers had a better shine and wet look to it.

Funny you mentioned that, Steven. I used the Mother's clay kit, which came with the Showtime Instant Detailer, but have not used it apart from the clay. I'll have to try that though. Thanks!

I like the Final Inspection the best. When I wash the car, I spray it on the sections before I towel dry and it leaves a nice shine as well as slick surface.

Race Glaze makes a great similar product that I actually like better. Tough to find though.
