I don't know if any of the members here have seen the 2 year project over at team-integra.net (i searched for quite a bit and came up blank), so i thought i'd post here of the link to the thread as well as a few pics of the engine installed.

WARNING: thread is over 140 pages long

Been following it since day one! Words can't even describe what he's doing.

I'm surprised no one besides me has posted this on prime yet.

I couldn't even imagine being able to do that. Everything he built himself was greatly engineered with complete blue prints drawn by hand. All of that was done with a $10k budget for everything uncluding chassis and motor!

The guy building this amazing machine gave an ETA of July i believe.

PS: His reason for creating this was because he was a former NSX owner who needed to sell and wanted something more affordable that he could thrash around the track which was like his former NSX. (He was paranoid to even drive the NSX because he wanted to keep it mint)

I was going to post it once he was done with the project. I don't think that alot of people will go back through and read all of the pages and have to cut through all of the stupid comments left by people. I wish there was a way to go back and make a version of just the builder's info that he posted and any actually relevant questions or comments.

It sort of reminds me of the Car And Driver 85 CRX build. They took 2 Accord SE-i motors (the first fuel injected Honda Passenger car motor for the NA market, 2.0 liters each I think) and put them on both ends of the CRX. It was a awesome little project and I drooled over it as a pre-license equipped teen.

Looks like he did a very good job. That is damn impressive. But, I think I'd be about as afraid of smashing that thing up at the track as an NSX! A lot of time and fab work went into that.

Yeah but he would know how to put it back together since he built it part by part, although there is the $$ issue. Also, let make reiterate (sp?) time and work: an eternity it seems is what it takes to put that thing together

Wow...must be sweet to ride in that thing...kinda reminds me of the suzuki escudo with the turbo twin engines. That takes a lot of trial and error to sync the rpms to match eachother (or at least i would think).

Thats it!!! I've been inspired...who wants to build a twin engine twin turbo BMW V12 McLaren kit car with me that will make 2000bhp and have 20 inch WIDE tires in the back with a 10 inch lip!!

Well I think the project is amazing, I cannot see why you would spend all that time and money and still end up with a slow car.

I think the guy building this car is doing it more because he can and he really enjoys stuff like this. I wish I had half the talent that he does.

Me too, but I would have rebuilt the motor and slapped a fat turbo on there with 400HP.

He talked about doing that in the beginning and still may. I'm sure this project will be a work in progress, so who knows? It could evolve into a turbocharged monster.

he was able to put in more time because he would rather not spend as much money. He was starting or had started his own show by his house and now because of this project he has gotten so much publicity that his shop will probably become very successful. Here's his reason from his build copy and pasted for the lazy

Thanks for all of your responses! I'll try to answer them:

Money: I have less than $4k in it now with a budget of $10k. I plan to use the rest of the budget for suspension package and wheels and tires.

Time; Yes, it is very time consuming. I spent about 2 months researching, designing and planning and have about 2 months in the fabrication so far. The progress is much faster now, just welding all the parts together. Designing and fabricatinging all the parts by hand is slow.

Alignment: It's basically a 97 Prelude front suspension with some modifications for anti-squat, roll center and camber gain. Static alignment will start at 0 degrees caster, -1 degree camber, 1/16" total toe in.

Why do it: I had a 91 NSX for about 18 months and loved it, but alas too expensive and worried me to death driving it. A rock chip would have killed me. I drove it 1800 miles and had to let it go. I'd hoped the delSol would be mid-engine RWD, but not to be. I have many track miles in a supercharged MR2, which was the most fun car I've ever had on track, but I've always liked Hondas. My goal with this is to build a really nice driver with decent performance, and excellant ride and handling. It will definately see some track time to fully sort it out, but is not intended as a racecar.

Thanks,
Dave end}

I don't think it will be a "slow car". Hell, a civic hatch with a h22 will out run a NSX all day long- In a straight line of course. it can't turn worth .... well you get the point.

bump for update on this car. Check out the original link above for more info. It's up and running. Just need to address some suspension issues. The pics alone are amazing!

Well, if this was possible, I'm sure in LS7 powered NSX is also not too far off.

It's funny that you mention that. There's a different, similar project going on here that you might like.

He is at it again- this time it is the suspension getting tweeked.

Further proof that this is no Jesse James style slap it together in a week and see if it runs project.

The amount of technical expertise involved in this conversion project is beyond belief.

The car was recently involved in a run on the Tail of the Dragon- although there are no photos, or vids up yet.

You should check out the thread over at Team-Integra.net- The guy didn't spend much money at all- I think his budget was $10k- and that included the two donor cars required to build it.

His sweat equity in the project is something else entirely, but then when he started he was unemployed (he might still be).

It is my understanding that this car is about to become a bit of a celebrity- which is the reason for there not being a lot of photos, or videos of the car on the street. It is supposed to be featured in some magazines in the near future, and that should yeild some return on the investment. Not to mention the notoriety he has gained from publishing the entire build on the web! He has earned a ton of potential customers. He has dropped a hint or two about opening a shop, and I know of several people who are already chomping at the bit to let him set up their suspension.
