My new car too...

Bought a Pontiac G8 GXP two weeks ago for a work car....:wink: Nice car and very rare,only made 1800, 600 were 6speed stick, before GM pulled the plug on Pontiac...Mine is Silver with charcoal interior. Its basically a four door corvette, 6.2 litre LS3 corvette V8 with 6speed manual shift. Bought in Memphis, guy paid 45k with tax, I got it for 30k w 15,000 miles. Damn thing hauls ass.......Stock for now....Mods are coming soon.......

I was driving up to Dallas in my GT-R and was cruising at about 90 on the left lane and I see something that is flying fastly approach me (thought it was an Evo at first). So I move over before he approaches me. It was no Evo. It was one of these Pontiac G8 GXP's. It was an old man too. He had stickers on the back windshield that said "here, hemi, hemi". I sped up just to see his reaction and he slows down and wants to run. He honks the horn 3 times and then takes off. I was tempted to run but I didn't.

Btw, there was absolutely no one on the road but us when this happened.

That car is no slouch

Be careful, there are some way modded GXPs in Dallas, I saw one a couple of weeks ago that was pushing over 700hp. LS3s are capable of close to 900hp with turbos and such. Mine puts out 425hp stock.......wont stay that way for long. I will try to post some photos guys.......:smile:

i've secretly wanted one for a DD vs an e39 M5 and once I make some room in the garage I might have to pick one up. A few guys are removing both the rear mufflers in place of a straight pipe and a capped J-pipe that acts like a 1/4 resonator (removes drone) in your car. They sound very nice if you're looking for that sort of thing.

I've just sold mine after two years of fun ownership. You'll love it and say to everyone "WHY IN GODS NAME HASN'T GM CONTINUED TO OFFER THIS CAR OR ITS CR8 VARIANT IN THE U.S.!!!!!".

Thanks for the info, I am planning on doing that and electric exhaust cutouts!! The car sounds like a monster truck going thru the cutouts....I heard a vette with them one day and it made me damn near piss in my pants....

G8's are pretty plentiful with the 6.0, but the G8 GXP 6.2 LS3 with a manual 6speed are hard to come by. Pontiac made 1800 total GXP's in 2009 and I think like 600 were stick....:biggrin:

I wonder if the 2011 grand cherokee srt8 will be a match. Dodge's hemi has a new 6.4L v-8 and its AWD.

I dunno the numbers on the other two....but 0-60 on a "stock" GXP is 4.5 to 4.7 seconds depending on the driver. AWD hooks up very fast in the dodge/Chrysler products......maybe time for a race...

P.S. Just had my secondary cats and mid exhaust removed yesterday and replace with an x pipe and straight pipes......should be good for 8-10hp putting me around 435hp.......

I love my NSX and such, but the other night there was a guy in a black NSX jacking with me on the freeway. Well, i dropped down to third.....and well, lets just say it was a proud moment for Pontiac.
