Just wanted to let you know that Circuit City has this drive on sale this week.
Got mine sunday  .

Seagate 750GB FreeAgent Pro
USB 2.0/eSATA
$309.99 - $110 = $199.99 (not a rebate)

Hehe, for once i was lucky. I needed it anyway and found it on sale. I was almost out of drive space, now i have 1.2TB

I looked at some in that size and price range but i wanted the eSATA and i didn't see one with it at that price.

Are external hard drives generally slower than the on board one? Or would I never know the difference?

Been looking for an external for my laptop actually. Just don't understand enough to decide which one of the 100's out there available.

They are slower but i don't think you will notice. I wouldn't load games or graphics intensive programs like photoshop on it but for storage and backing up the computer they are perfect.

This one has the benefit of having the eSATA port. You may not have the port on your present computer but in the future when you upgrade to one that does this drive will be blazing fast. About 6 times faster than USB2.0 and firewire.
