Need audio system suggestions (speakers/amp)

I am just waiting on Tamoske's CF Console before I start my System installation. But I still need a couple of things. I will be running the Kenwood DDX-8019 Double Din Unit with the Nav Module, and I am going to go pick up the v3 sub from Ztoolman this week. I just need some suggestions on an amp and speakers, and basically how I should set it up? Separate amp for the sub? same amp for all? What kind of speakers? I'm looking for something mid-range because I like live concert music or acoustic performances. Price-wise I'm not too concerned, but don't want to spend $1000 on speakers for something that I only drive every other weekend (ok, maybe a little more often than that). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

As far as amps go, I originally had JL Audio 300/4 & 500/1. Then I went to a Soundstream Reference 705s and finally realized the Alpine PDX amps can't be beat for their size and lack of heat. You can pick up a Alpine PDX 300.4 new on ebay for around $400 and run 150w/2 to the front and 300/1 to the sub and the amp is tiny.

As far as speakers, the choices are many... just don't go too cheap. There are many threads on this subject - with opinions on the low end, middle and expensive.

I had MB Quart (which were too harsh) and then Boston Pros and finally got Dynaudio 240GTs which I think are some of the best car audio speakers I have ever owned - but they aren't cheap!

you're starting to use those faces like him(Tamoske)

use the search. SOS has a nice system out of the box. I think you even keep the stock head units.

Also D'Ecosse is the expert and malibu rapper. Search for post by them and you will have a wealth of info on a system for your car.

click on their names with your mouse and it will list post by him. Or shoot them a pm.

You might need to be specific and give him more than 2 hours before this face:rolleyes: http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87396

hope it helps.

A single amp install will make it a lot easier. You have a lot of choices as far as amps go, look for something 4 channels and 75 watts per channel if you want enough power for your components and sub. 300 watts is enough for most subs. With the V3 it is more than enough power as the SWS is a very efficient subwoofer. For a 3 way setup, the Audison SRX-3 is very hard to beat because it's a 3 channel amplifier with a class D sub channel which makes it very efficient. The MTX TA3404 can be had for under $200 shipped and I've installed it in an NSX before with very good results. The new MTX Thunder amps are one of the best choices for integrating with the OEM head unit although I know you are not using that. They have very cool switched inputs for high and low.

You really need to go to a good shop to choose what components you want and how much you want to spend. Find out what components you are going to buy first before you choose your amp. Then buy an amp that can meet the max RMS recommendations for the components. Everybody has their own preference for what components they will purchase for a given price range. The most popular brands are Boston Acoustics, MB Quart, Focal, Dynaudio, and JL Audio. I would not buy any set of components that I didn't personally audition. Polk Audio makes a set of SR6500 speakers that have been getting rave reviews if you can spend $600-$700 for a set of comps. But buy whichever components sound best to you. Bring a CD in and listen to a reference track to help you decide.
