Is this the KENWOOD alarm box? Took off the lower dash cover on the pass. side and think this is it. I need to grab a serial number in order to order a key fob.

Thanks in advance.

I found this but still not sure of the answer

In my '95 it's in the passenger footwell area on the underside of the glovebox. Its a black box about the size of a wallet. This is what a quick search turned up. Hope it helps.

That is describing the keyless entry which is NOT the same as the security module. Those are quite separate functions on the NSX.
The security module is indeed behind the glove box however. See picture below. It is the one in the bottom of the rack.

Are you sure that isn't the keyless entry box?

So in order to get a new remote for the keyless entry/alarm, you have to take the glove box out. Then why the confusion over this black box that is on the pass side? I have seen several people talk about this box being the one to use for a serial number in order to get a new Kenwood remote.

So maybe this is my answer?

There is however a plug for an OEM keyless door entry module & associated remote key-fobs - when this module is installed (available as OEM accessory from dealer), this will also arm & disarm the standard installed OEM alarm as well as operating the door locks. This connector is located behind the glove box - you can probably reach it w/o having to remove the box itself, just the under-tray.

Looks like I just need the number off this box for the keyless Kenwood remote???

so what exactly is that box? When I lock the car, the upper area on the drivers interior door panel flashes red, so the stock system still works....this would have to be some sort of aftermarket keyless entry brain, correct?

Are you locking the door with the key or with a remote that operates that 'brain'?
I'm not sure if you're looking for an extra remote, or that you have none at all?
If your after-market remote is setting the alarm then the installer did a pretty good job to incorporate it to do that; if locking with the key, that is normal - the security module is independent of the keyless entry.

correct, i lock the car with the key and knew they were separate. so what is the point of the keyless entry? i mean, i get that it locks and unlocks the car, buy why have keyless entry if it does not arm / disarm the car when you use it? it appears to be an AM unit like written here, so why would anyone get keyless entry UNLESS it was tied to the alarm. Here is where my interest comes into play.

Not trying to state the obvious, but Keyless entry is used so you dont have to use a key to open the doors. Honda factory alarms are fairly simple to integrate into with the keyless entry so when you lock and unlock the doors via remote, the factory alarm arms and disarms correspondingly. The unit you have photographed does not offer that feature as you can see by the basic wiring configuration. If I had to guess, I would say that looks like a inexpensive unit from either JC whitney or maybe Pepboys. You do not want to waste any more time looking for a remote for that unit, its not worth it. Get a new system from a reputable car audio retailer in your area.
On a side note, the factory NSX alarm is very basic and really provides only minimal protection as compared to an aftermarket alarm. And any good alarm will come with keyless entry as a standard option. If you are looking to protect your car, an aftermarket alarm is the way to go. Try a Compustar or Viper. They are two of the more reputable companies.

I have never used an alarm before.

Are you saying I can buy a basic keyless entry module and have it installed to work in conjunction with the alarm? Can any stereo shop (circuit city) do this, or do I need to take it to someone with some knowledge on the NSX alarm?

Thanks
