Well I have been looking for something different to drive for over a year. I was bored with the VW Passat(owned it for almost 6 years) and wanted something else. I looked at all kinds of Sedans, SUV's, Full size trucks. The basic requirement was a comfortable ride and the ability to do a 500 mile round trip in relative comfort. After being impressed with my Dad's Hyundai Genesis, I decided to go check out the Equus. My wife wasn't too thrilled with the idea. She wanted to get a Range Rover. We checked out the new ML350 and the E350 and since the Hyundai dealership is down the street I convinced her to at least see the new Hyundai. I was pleasantly surprised when she liked it. I bought it a week ago. Finally got around to doing a full detail job this AM. Pics now, Full review once I put some miles on it. BTW, it's a Equus Ultimate. The exact same option list on Lexus LS460L with executive package would list for $98K!! The Equus listed for $64.9K. I got them go down a bit on the price.

P.S. Special thanks to my buddy Dennis for helping me detail it. The car had a lot of water spots that needed elbow grease. It has some swirl marks that I will address in the winter.

Ritesh,

Now you just need a driver! The back seat is where it's at.

I am enjoying my Hyundai Genesis Coupe as well. It feels so wrong... yet it feels so right.

Very nice car. Their service is impeccable as well; pick your car up at your house and level a rental car at no charge, etc. I was looking around at a potential new DD that I will purchase in about a year from now and the genesis is on my short list.

Congrats.

That much and they didn't detail it for you?

Great car, just get rid of all the stupid emblems and letters.......keep them guessing:cool:

I was very impressed with the Genesis and Equus for the price when I looked at them.

While I think their target of the S Class, LS, A8, and 7 Series is still out of reach, it is a very very nice car.

Interior pics?

Sorry guys. Got home late from work. Will take int. pics. So far the car is quite impressive. Definetly much more a luxury sedan than sporty but does ok if you put it in sport mode. My major complaint is that the steering wheel gives absolutely no feedback but I guess that what it was designed to do.

Oh. they washed it before I picked it up but that not the same as a washing it with Dawn twice, Using hand polish to get out all water spots, then washing it with dawn again with De-ionized water, then using a polish lock, then wiping it down and using Zaino wax, then detail spraying it then......Well u get the Idea.

I looked at the Equus and was impressed with it. However I felt that it is more of a car geared towards people in their 60's and older. I think that this car and the Genesis are going to be the leap that Hyundai will take into the luxury car segment. Just like Honda and Toyota did with Acura and Lexus respectively.

nice looking dd....but what happened to the "supercar" purchase?

Wait, what? Hyundai offers this??

The car was a demo with 4K miles on it when I bought. It comes with 5 Yr. 60K miles free maintenance. I called them two days later and ask them to change the oil and to do an alignment. They asked if I would like an Equus demo dropped off. I said that it wasn't necessary. The salesman who I bought the car from dropped by my office, picked up my key, took the car to the dealership, had the oil changed, aligned it, adjusted tire pressures and then called to see if I wanted it washed. I said HELL NO!! He knew that already and just wanted to be sure. He returned the car 2.5 hours later. Excellent service, No paperwork, No waiting, no questions asked.

Definely geared towards the 60's crowd. But... My SUV rides like a truck, the NSX is stiffer than the GT3. The Spec Miata is stiffer than both of them SO.. I wanted something completely different. I was looking at a S class or E - class or a Lexus LS. I just wanted something that was comfortable, roomy and luxurious. I don't really care about the valet parking cache, don't care about having a prestigous 3 star or a L on the hood. Hell I live in a small town...We have 2 places in town that Valet.

Btw. A new E-class was going to be basically the same price AND I was thinking.. I might as well wait until the 2012 E-class with more HP and better MPG comes out.

Did you consider the Genesis R Spec as well? How would you compare the two?

Drove the R - Spec. Definetly more sporty. MUCH quicker since it is 600 lbs. lighter and has more HP, More TQ, and 2 more gears. BUT... definetly not as luxurious. The ride was a bit too choppy and not sorted. Finally... I bought my Dad a Genesis last year so THERE WAS NO WAY IN HELL my wife would let me get one too.

Told you guys.. it's no joke. Hyundai is not messing around with these cars.

I like it. Hyundai isn't looking to take over the luxury segment; they are just looking for their piece of the pie. Based on what they've done with the Equus, they'll get a nice slice in coming years.
