I just noticed a "sucking" noise just behind my left ear when hitting the throttle. When you press the gas pedal fast it bogs slightly and makes that same noise. Just started happening tonight.

Any ideas what this might be?

I think it has something to do with the air intake. This noise is new as of tonight and the car bogs when you hit the gas hard and makes the sucking noise. I had a similar situation in my 911 when I put a high performance cold air kit on it. I had the same "bogging" action. I has to take it out of the 911 back to original. The only strange part is that I have not touched anything on the NSX?

Any ideas or should I just bring the car in to the shop?

I get the same thing on my 95 NSX-T..... it has the Downforce intake.... kind of like this one:

And it makes a high pitched sucking sound at WOT...... the power seems fine though... although it is kind of annoying and its very loud...

I like the idea of these intakes but if it has this high pitched sound like putting your finger in a vacuum hose at full blast! haha

Does these intakes actually offer any real world performance benefit?

Hi Guys. Checked airfilter and it looksbrand new. I think Ramon might have changes it. The noise came out of nowhere and not sure what it is.

Does anyone know if there is a hose/pipe that goes into the airbox? The noise comes from directly behind my left ear?

Any suggestions would help. Thanks, Dennis

I too was thinking of the side scoop. Kinda odd that you would just now notice that though.
Unless you always drive with the windows up and radio on or something. It was the first difference I heard when I installed mine.
I didn't experience the engine 'bog' that you are refering to though.

Do you mean when you installed your new air filter? Is this a common noise with new air filters?

Thanks, D

when i put my procar fais, ( fender air intake system ) i noticed the hissing sound and intake sound right behind my left ear. you do know that the nsx draws air into the engine thru the left side of the car right?

its most likely just the intake noise you just started to notice. if it has a after market scoop in the nsx, you will notice it alot. to check you need to shine a flash light into the driver side vent. if you see right thru it, than you still have the factory resonator. if its pitch black and you see a piece of plastic that surrounds the entire vent, that you have aftermarket fender scoop in it.

No, I noticed when I installed the side scoop as explained in the above post. You would only hear a very loud suction sound with this item in place.
Now if you have a K&N intake or something like that installed, then you will hear the same type of sound but at a lower volume.

Thanks for the tips guys. I will check it out. The noise definitley just started - I would have noticed it before.....

Do you guys notice an improvement in power etc.. with the new intake?

Some people claim that there is no positive proof of any actual HP or TQ gain by this mod.
I however feel that there is. I have noticed a slight increase in throttle response throughout the rev band. Could just be that I wanted to notice something since I spent $$ on a mod and didn't want it to be in vain.
I think it is worth the $$ and there is a gain.
