Hey guys,
I would like to introduce myself and get some general info on nsx's.
Some background.. i have an 01 s4, slightly modded
my brother has a heavily modded single turbo 700 whp
My dad has a porsche gt-2, rs6, custom shelby cobra, and the list goes on, but we needed a second track car and we thought that a mid-engined beauty, like the nsx, would be perfect.
My dad is the one who bought the nsx, but it is for my brother and i mostly to use at the track, so there will be some wear and tear and we were looking for a good shop around Chicago to do a few upgrades and maintenence on the car. It is a 91 with about 40,xxx on the clock.

Any info would be appreciated, and info on shops or place to avoid would be a great help, thanks and happy motoring... Jack

ok thanks for the info on dealer's, but any reputable performance shops? Or can the dealership do upgrade work also? (never heard of that)

Acura of Brookfield is not your typical dealership. They are THE aftermarket performance shop for the NSX in the midwest. If you want a comptech supercharger installed, or a 2300 pound race car built for SCCA, they are the ones to see.

They are also extremely professional and reasonable in price.

BTW, if you had bothered to read the second link I posted you would already know that . . .

I don't think there is any performance shops that caters directly to the NSX in the Chicagoland...if it requires the basic mechanical skills, AMS & Sound Performance will be my first choices....otherwise, the stealership(Hoffman Estates/Highland Park) is the best place to go...if you're willing to travel, Acura of Brookfield will do....

For certain services - changing oil, brake pads, tires - you can take it to any competent mechanic. These items are no different for the NSX than for other cars. Just make sure they jack the car up using the factory jacking points.

However, for anything more complicated than that, I just don't want to take it to a place that rarely if ever sees an NSX. And there are NO independent mechanics who have an NSX in their shop any time you go in there.

The two dealers previously mentioned - Woodfield Acura in Hoffman Estates (847-519-9550) and Pauly Acura in Highland Park (847-433-8200) are both very competent for all factory type service. Each has two highly experienced NSX techs, and more often than not (outside of the winter months), you'll see them working on an NSX.

I also agree with Ryan (brahtw8) regarding Acura of Brookfield, just west of Milwaukee. They are the most experienced shop in the entire Midwest when it comes to NSX tuning, installation of aftermarket equipment, race prepping, etc, as well as routine service. For example, they have installed around forty superchargers on NSXs, and I doubt that anyplace in Chicago has installed as many as five. Oh, and their hourly rates are less than the Chicago-area dealers - an added bonus. The only downside, of course, is that they're a hundred miles away.

What I do is, take it to my neighborhood shop for brake pads, tires, oil changes; I go to Woodfield Acura if I'm having factory work done; and I drive to Brookfield when I need something special done (e.g. work on my brake cooling ducts).
